As risky and expensive and energy-draining as CCS is, I'm afraid it's as inevitable as it is impossible. It will happen because the coal lobby has billions out the butthole invested in keeping coal on the table -- and PA has one of the larger cabals of coal lobbyists. Also looking at the current stimulus proposals, the House has pledged about $2.4 billion in subsidies for ccs and the Senate about $4.6 billion. There's no logic behind any of these kinds of investments, but perhaps Rendell can be a bit more persuasive about pushing PA beyond "clean coal" boondoggles.

Why does this sound eerily similar to the prison policies of Rendell's idol Bill Clinton? Next thing you know they'll be calling him PA's first black governor, saying he provided more housing for black men than anyone else -- even if it's in prisons.
