Ah, Chris! You are right on top of the issue. Forced pooling is not the first indication that citizen rights are vanishing as shale gas drilling comes into our area. If you want a real experience about the loss of civil liberties that this activity has created, take a little trip into Washington County and sit in on one of the local township meetings, meetings where gas companies and their lawyers can present ad nauseum, while local residents are restricted to 3-minute comments. Meetings where the world is entirely upside down and residents argue for their right to NOT be subjected to off-gassing of carcinogenic and neurotoxic BTEX chemicals 24/7, while the local officials uphold the interests of the gas industry, and proclaim all industry activity good for the economy. It's a fascinating place, especially when you learn how many of the local politicians are receiving gas industry dollars and deals. We have quite a little story right in our own backyard.

This will be Pittsburgh’s future too, if residents don’t take a stand now.
