AARP Pennsylvania is working on bringing jazz back to the Hill District. On Sun., Aug. 4, the first in a series of four Jazz Revival on the Rooftop events will take place at Pittsburgh’s Thelma Lovette YMCA.
Free and open to the public, the all-ages event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and all four dates will feature live music from the Night Club Band with Tony Campbell. Refreshments can be purchased from food trucks located outside the building.
Although Jazz Revival on the Rooftop is a free event, registration is recommended. Those interested can sign up
here. After the Aug. 4 date, the remaining three events in the series will take place on Aug. 25, Sept. 29, and Oct. 6. Each is a Sunday and runs from 5:30–7:30 p.m.
Pittsburgh’s Hill District is known for its rich history in jazz music, with many famous jazz musicians learning and honing in their talents in its clubs. AARP is sponsoring the Jazz Revival on the Rooftop series as part of its commitment to make Pittsburgh more livable for residents and (jazz lovers) of all ages.
