The holidays are here, and panicked last-minute shopping is right around the corner. Thankfully, there’s booze. Not only does a glass of wine make hours of Amazon browsing less painful, but alcohol and its associated swag make great presents. Here are five local gifts for the boozehound in your life.

Beer and cocktail prints by The National Anthem

The National Anthem is a duo of Pittsburgh-based artists who create vibrant, retro prints perfect for your home bar. Their work, which has been featured in a number of national publications, is available in a variety of standard sizes, from postcard to poster. And the prints are as functional as they are beautiful: Beer and wine prints come with tasting notes, and cocktail prints feature a recipe. etsy.com/shop/thenationalanthem

Wine classes at Palate Partners

Wine can feel awfully intimidating (I blame all those French words). Luckily, Palate Partners is here to help. For more than two decades, Palate Partners has offered a wide range of wine and spirits education to Pittsburghers, from casual wine tastings to advanced-level certifications. Grab a gift certificate for the budding oenophile in your life, or get two for a memorable evening together. palatepartners.com

Whiskey, Etc., by Sherrie Flick

Whiskey, Etc. is not exactly a book about booze. But as the title suggests, whiskey and other libations flow freely through its pages. Published this year, Whiskey, Etc. is a collection of short stories by Sherrie Flick, a wonderful local writer and teacher (and Manhattan connoisseur). The stories are wry, aching slices of life, perfect for slugging in short bursts or savoring slowly by the fire. Available at White Whale Bookstore and City Books, and online at Amazon.

A brewery tour from Porter Craft Beer Tours

Though it’s tough to get an exact count, the Pittsburgh area is now home to dozens upon dozens of breweries, with many more on the way. Give a loved one a jump-start on trying them all with a ticket to a Porter Craft Beer Tour. The company offers weekend tours that bring you to three local breweries over the course of three hours, providing transportation, tastes of several beers, and of course, plenty of knowledge. A gift certificate allows the recipient to choose any tour in the next year, making for a flexible and sudsy gift. porter.tours

M.F.O.F from Maggie’s Farm Rum

Maggie’s Farm’s new M.F.O.F. is the perfect gift for the lazy mixologist. The “O.F.” stands for “old fashioned,” and the bottle contains Maggie’s Farm’s version of the classic cocktail. The ready-to-drink beverage is made of aged rum, turbinado sugar and bitters — a warming winter drink that will please any palate. And since all you need to do is pour it over some ice, the lucky recipient can start drinking before the stockings are even empty. maggiesfarmrum.com
