This show was fantastic. 3 local bands I never saw before and one from DC. All were old school of one kind or another. The Homisides were unique in having a sound that is like early 80s LA sound but with more precision and power - and a female singer. They are a Pittsburgh bands I somehow managed did not see before, Weapons of Choice were a lot of fun and even did a cover of one of my favorite old school hardcore bands, Angry Samoans. LNT was a little more hardcore and did very tight high energy set. Cultivator, I had not seen in years and this was the best Ive seen them do. They still rock with passion.
Each band had something to say against fascism and nazis I thought maybe that was the theme of the show, but thrn I found out that there was a big fight between crusty punks in polish hill and some Nazi skinheads earlier in the week. Some of the locals in polish hill thought it had something to do with the bands. There were some rumors about the bands that were spread by someone at a competing bar and started by well known local scenesters, saying these bands were Nazi skinheads. I dont know why anyone would think that, but the Pittsburgh, crust punk clique is not known for being smart.
No nazis showed up and anyone who believed the rumors missed one of the best shows of the year at Gooskis.
