Great and informative article. As a recipient of these benefits I can tell u it's quite a stretch one one income feeding a family of four with 66.00 in snap benefits.if it weren't for food pantries and the Wic program I'm sure my girls would not be able to recieve near the proper amount of nutrition. We can't afford daycare so I can only work a few evening with an infant. I'm thankful that there is any help. The bible teachers us too learn to live in times of plenty and times of want. Having faith allows us to feel more at ease with this situation. Endurance builds strength and helps to improve character, not to mention when your poor you have to get pretty ingenious. Our benefits have fluctuated 3-4 times over the last tear or so. I have no idea how they actually calculate them because the changes rarely align with our income changes, but we just roll with it.
