The Earth Quaker Action Team has campaigned against PNC's mountaintop investments since 2010. We're fed up with PNC's constant white- and green-washing to hide the devastating effects of mountaintop removal mining (MTR) which includes chronic health issues like cancer, kidney disease and respiratory illness, single-industry economics, and the ecocide of over 500 mountains and 2000 miles of streams and rivers.
As a Quaker organization we are constantly amazed, stunned and horrified at PNC's corporate corruption of it's image as a "Quaker" rooted institution. For example, Bill Mills, Regional Director in Philadelphia receives the William Penn award from the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce tonight. We will be there to reclaim true Quaker roots.
EQAT's action on Tuesday was planned for PNC's annual shareholder meeting. Earth Day happened to coincide a day earlier. We stand in solidarity with all the groups participating in the Day of Action on Monday - we're holding you in the Light!
We demand that PNC board members come clean and tell us whether they support ending investing and financing in MTR or not. It's time to end business-as-usual!
