Unbelievably some of these units are going for ~$3,000/month. If I'm going to spend that much money on base rent alone you'd better believe I'd want to make sure my residence was aesthetically-appealing---not aesthetically-appalling.
We also live in Polish Hill. I moved to Brereton Street in 2010 and fell in love with the charm of the neighborhood. I have regular anxiety each time the lease is up for renewal that this year will be the year our landlord announces she's evicting us to do $2,000 in improvements and then double the rent to lure in an UBER or Apple employee so they can walk to their offices nearby. It's a very stressful time to be a renter in our neighborhood.
Best of luck to you, Eric, in your new venture! Pittsburgh has been experiencing a surge in intellectual energy in just the few years I've lived here, and I'm confident you'll find success here! I look forward to exploring your store the next time I'm Downtown (which will be as soon as---or IF---the weather ever improves so I can walk down there! LOL!)
