OK, I'm responding to this because my editor gave me the heads-up that there were a bunch of comments on this piece. So here we go: Hey Joe - As someone who has seen and/or promoted Antiseen shows going back to 1991 or so (as you may remember), there was no ill intent meant by mentioning you as being in "relative" retreat. I hadn't heard about you guys touring in a while *relative* to how much the Dwarves have been out lately. I look forward to hearing about a Pittsburgh date and hopefully previewing it. I'm sure Joel will let me know. I have supported him and his venue faithfully for the past decade. For example, if you happen to know Dixie from NC's Weedeater (ex-Buzzoven) I will say hi to him when I see them on Monday at the Pub! Rocco, you are sadly mistaken. I never wrote about hair metal bands for any paper. In the previous weekly paper I wrote for before the City Paper, I wrote about various styles of independent and experimental music, same as I do now. I did cover stories for that paper on local punk and hardcore bands, going back 18 years. Not hair metal. You must be confusing me with someone else. Possibly the hapless gents at the now-defunct Rock & Roll Reporter? As for 'just hearing about the Dwarves', that's totally wrong. I've known who they were since the late '80s and I bought the Sub Pop album when it came out. Where were you when all the trangressive/pigfucker/heroin bands were around in the late 80s/early 90s? I was either going to those shows or promoting them at the time. Plus buying a lot of their records on vinyl. Swans, Killdozer, TAD, Rapeman, Lazy Cowgirls, whoever. And yes...Antiseen. You should think twice before saying things about me when you don't know the facts. And to the various Suicide Girls who were offended by a single descriptive word meant as flippant shock humor - get a life.
