Re: “Children of Men

This review is off the mark. Kloman focuses his review on the plot and premise, and in doing so misses everything beautiful, sophisticated, and compelling about this movie. His review suggests that the scenes and effects warrant a commercially acceptable Hollywood epic/action plot. Why should we see new movies if we are only comfortable with films that fit a formula we’ve seen hundreds of times. This movie is driven by it’s portrayal of universal nightmares and human nature. The plot and premise do only what's necessary to further these themes. Additionally, it incorporates impressive imagery and cinematography that harkens the realistic style of the French new wave.
