Re: “When and how did the Highland Park Zoo get its start?

This article completely skips the original pittsburgh zoological society that took the zoo over, raised massive amounts of money, refurbished it all, built the aquazoo and raised the funds for the planning and construction of all the modern parts of the zoo.

I and several relatives were staff during those years, including both of my god parents.

It was headed by Dr. Bisonette in those days and its terrible how it is skipped over by so many articles about the zoo that seem to want to credit PPG for the later growth.

Dr. James W. Anderson III, Former Staff.

Re: “What is state of all-ages concerts in Pittsburgh?

"you can't make a show all ages when less than 2% of the potential audience is under 21", is what that sentence should have said - thanks!

Re: “The Problem With “Diversity”

I always had a problem with the word "diversity" it was meant to mean people of color. at that time i was at a workplace where businesses received start up funding, so the word diversity was twisted to mean "white women", and every other ethnicity other than "African American / Black, etc." and when it came to hiring yes they used diverse in the same way, as long as they hired a white woman, Asian person, you get it the path. It didn't matter if they didn't hire an African American because being diverse you hired someone, you funded someone other than a white male. LOL don't use that word around me.

Re: “Stormy Daniels' lawyer tweeted about Ben Roethlisberger. Why?

Picking on Big Ben when he's literally and figuratively down
stinks up the joint.
He needs a break,an offensive line,and a defensive backfield.
He does not need some cheap shot artist kicking sand in his face.
He threw an interception and tackled the perpetrator.Don't doubt his courage.

While Avenatti is pure sleaze, it's quite hypocritical for a sleazy "journalist" for a sleazy outlet to reference his sleaziness.

Re: “Internal poll shows Democrat state Senate nominee Lindsey Williams with 9-point lead over Republican Jeremy Shaffer

Ahem--Ms. Williams graduated from law school and was an attorney for whistleblowers at the National Whistleblowers Center in Washington, DC. The Republican candidate has "double" the IQ of the Democrat? I think that's stretching the truth quite a bit!

Re: “Talking Oktoberfest with Peter Kurzweg of Lorelei

Slight correction: technically only six breweries in Munich are allowed to call their beer an Oktoberfest beer (Augustiner, Hacker-Pschorr, Hofbraeuhaus, Loewenbraeu, Paulaner, and Spaten-Franziskaner) every other Munich brewery typically calls their version a Maerzen. That said, it's a little strange Peter didn't mention any of those breweries, especially since half of them can easily be found at multiple distributors in the Pittsburgh area.

Anyways, Peter did make some excellent suggestions, even if they're not what you would find at a truly authentic Oktoberfest celebration. Along with an excellent European beer selection, Lorelei also succeeds in creating a typical atmosphere from the area too.

Re: “Allegheny County representatives call for statewide indoor smoking ban for workplaces

there is nothing worse than a obvious intelligent person that is so ignorant of the facts of smoking as to defend it.
Wow

Re: “Allegheny County representatives call for statewide indoor smoking ban for workplaces

Ray, aka "Fed Up", evidently could find absolutely nothing to criticise in my writings at the link I sent him to, so he just returned, commented again about my "ignorance," and wrote this:

"Ask any bar in New York now if their business has gone down or up since the smoke free law took affect,"

Sure Ray/Fed/Whatever: How if I asked a few HUNDRED bars? Would that satisfy you? See:

https://web.archive.org/web/20080522111212/http://www.smokersclub.com/banloss3.htm

Now, Ray or whoever, before you call me "ignorant" again, you might want to show our readers that you yourself can't be accused of ignorance. Simply read over my leaflet-booklet at the link I gave a few hours ago, and pick out the various specific, substantive errors and criticisms you must have of it to show the ignorance of my ways.

Thank you.

Re: “Allegheny County representatives call for statewide indoor smoking ban for workplaces

Again , you show your ignorance by thinking that all non smokers don't want ANYONE to smoke. No one is asking anyone to quit smoking. Yes you have a right to smoke.
The only request that the non smoker has is to not smoke where they have to breath the pathogens.
Ask any bar in New York now if their business has gone down or up since the smoke free law took affect, and you'll find out that business has increased. All the smokers now go outside to smoke. Problem solved.

Re: “Allegheny County representatives call for statewide indoor smoking ban for workplaces

Replying to the Anonymouse who's afraid to share their name:

You say my "statement" shows my "ignorance" without pointing out how it does so. That's sort of like listening to a detailed explanation of something in a debate, and when it's your turn to respond you have nothing to say other than, "Well, I think my opponent is stupid." Heh, not a very effective response if you really have a valid argument.

You also "guess" that I believe "smoking is good for you." Can you point to anywhere where I said that, or are you just making it up because you had no real argument to make against what I *did* say? If you did even a TINY bit of research you've have found my Author's Preface for "Dissecting Antismokers' Brains" and noticed the THIRD SENTENCE starting off my book:

"I also do not here, nor have I ever, tried to claim that smoking is generally good for you, although many find enough enjoyment in it to justify its risks."

Seriously Anonymouse, how can anyone take your position seriously if you can't read even three sentences of your opponent's main body of writing?

Let me make it easier for you by pointing you to an easy-reading, big print, handout booklet I designed for dimly lit bars under attack. Should be lots of easy targets there for you. In case active links are not allowed here I put "(DOT)" in place of the two "." in the address for easy access. easy access:

docplayer(DOT)net/24129388-The-lies-behind-the-smoking-bans-v-gen5h-k5(DOT)html

See if you can come up with some specific, substantive criticisms of what I actually DO say, OK?
