Re: “Roland's Seafood Grill

On Saturday December 9, 2017 me, my sister and my 12-year old daughter went to Rolands for lunch while we were out Christmas shopping. My daughter has always loved going down there especially at Christmas time, unfortunately after the experience we encountered on Saturday that was our last trip.

We were seated roughly 20 minutes after arrival and the server came over rather quickly. We ordered immediately as we always get the same dishes plus we were all starving from walking around shopping all morning. Our drinks came and 5 minutes later our food arrived, which was rather shocking considering how crowded the restaurant was plus my sister and daughter ordered/split the fish sandwich which was cold and didnt come with any of the condiments they ordered with it. I know that it takes a lot longer than 5 minutes to cook & serve a fried dish, which makes me wonder if this dish belonged to someone else previously and was returned to the kitchen.

I ordered the famous Lobster Roll, which was lacking the main ingredient, the lobster!! My daughter took one look at it & said mom I have been watching them bring out many of those lobster rolls and yours looks nothing like those! Where is the lobster? I tracked down the waiter, my sister again asked for the condiments, and I asked him to please take my dish back to the kitchen to add lobster pointing out that it was an incredibly small portion. It actually looked like tiny scraps of lobster that would normally be thrown out. The server took my plate and returned within minutes (again without their condiments) informing me that if I wanted more lobster I would have to pay for a whole other meal ($17). As you can imagine, I was not happy, completely shocked at this response and asked to speak with a manager.

A few minutes later an incredibly rude young man came over. He did not have any type of badge indicating that he was a manager and he didnt introduce himself with a name or a title, he only said whats going on? I explained to him how dissatisfied I was with the portion size and just wanted more lobster added so I could eat. He refused to do so explaining to me that all portions are weighed out at 4oz and that I had plenty. I asked him to please look at my meal because it was clearly not the weighted amount. I went on explaining to him that I didnt want to spend $17 for a meal that I wasnt satisfied with. This manager said nothing more, took my plate and walked away. I sat there while my sister & daughter ate part of their meals, as they were still waiting for condiments. The server was at another table and my sister called him over and again asked for their condiments, he apologized, came out, tossed them on the table saying nothing, and walked away. All the while, Im sitting there with NO FOOD at all.

After some time, I saw the rude manager walking by with 2 lobster rolls with heaping portions of lobster. At first I thought that was mine and he was finally taking care-of the situation, but I was wrong. He took the food to the table next to us.

I called him over and asked if he was bringing my meal back. And he rudely laughed at me said NO! I asked him if he was serious and he said absolutely and then made a comment that I wasnt going to pay for my food, which I never said. We had more than enough money to pay for our food plus we would never go into a restaurant with the mindset that we were getting something for free. At this point I was angry, hungry and really upset over the entire situation especially that is was happening in-front of my young daughter. I called him an asshole, grabbed my jacket and purse, and told my family to finish their meal and that I would be outside waiting for them.

I was on the sidewalk out front of the restaurant, minding my own business and next thing I know, this rude manager came running out, GOT IN MY FACE and started SCREAMING AT ME!! I told him to get out of my face but he just kept on screaming at me informing me that I was banned from Rolands.

My sister and daughter came out after they finished their meal, which they did tell me that this manager took care-of the bill. My daughter went on to tell me that this manager went back over to their table to complain about me indicating that I was childish, rude and not welcome back. Why would he say this to my 12-year old daughter????

This entire situation is beyond unacceptable! It is never at any time OK for a man to treat a woman this way or speak to a child that way! I have never in all my years seen a manager treat a customer this way and I myself was in the service industry for many years when I was younger. Apparently at Rolands the customer is NOT RIGHT and managers can walk around treating customers poorly and no one cares.

I called the restaurant when we left to see if I could get the managers name, since he never did provide it. The young lady that answered the phone was equally as rude and told me there were 3 there that day, Ryan Luke and Eric. I asked her to repeat the names as we were on a speaker phone and it was difficult to hear. She then said who is this and why do you want to know? I then heard someone in the background and next thing I know there was a dial tone.

Re: “Hot Rod Cafe

Someone needs to tell the DJs that there is a noise ordinance in the city. After midnight the rest of the neighborhood deserves peace and quiet

Re: “Mario's South Side Saloon

Bouncer who called himself "Jim" accused me of using a fake ID. (I turned 25 last week, my girlfriend surprised with tickets to a game at Heinz) this Jim guy pulled a knife on me trying to intimidate me into confessing it was fake? Not sure what his motive was but it happened. He told me his manager wasn't there, he lied. I went and found him and before could explain myself this Asian guy "Jim" came up telling his manager I tried to fight him! THIS OPERATION IS A JOKE - if you're in your mid 20s better make sure you bring a passport. I have seen several other reviews of similar things happening with an Asian bouncer. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

Re: “The Theatre Factory

Saw Pippin and left after 1st act. The performers are very talented, but the story line lacks depth and the explicit sexual nature is over the top and not in good taste. A more focused plot may have held our interest; Act 1, just seemed to drag on and on. Other musicals we've seen here were very well done and definitely held your interest. A big disappointment.

Re: “The Mr. Roboto Project

Venue with absolutely no amenities, a history of sexual harassment, & run by a commitee with a horrible attitude. Cliquish & judgemental would be an understatement. They hastily ban people for having an opinion that doesn't completely align with theirs. It's a complete waste of time for anyone wanting to play a show in Pittsburgh. The atmosphere is awkward & uncomfortable & the shows are sparsely attended.

Re: “Kelly's Bar & Lounge

Worst drink and customer service I have ever experienced from a bar. I politely asked for a cocktail menu and Caleb C. rolled his eyes at me and huffed as he turned. I ordered a Rusty Nail cocktail that had two ingredients Scotch and Drambuie of which it was poured very heavy on the Drambuie. I was polite the entire transaction saying please and thank you of which Caleb C. said nothing to either me or my friend. The people behind us even noticed his attitude towards us and even inquired upon it asking what we did to make Caleb C. frustrated with us. Caleb C. also associated the people behind us with them and proceeded to make the frequent customers Moscow Mule very sub-par as per asking them myself. I honestly feel shafted for $12.84 not only in money but in time and leaving such a bad taste in my mouth.

Re: “30Bar

Why should they have limited the amount of single men? As a past dancer there I can say while we may have had single men not all were ones that were paying customers as far as dancers lol. A lot of men just came to literally drink beer, be cheap, and nothing else, sweetie.
