Mayor Pedunklehead is a moron, far left whacko who is trying to set up future voters for himself.

Re: “Reports suggested that Downtown Pittsburgh had a crime wave this summer. But it didn’t. What actually happened?

I would like to see reporting regarding the increase in rapes downtown. Where exactly is this occurring and what if anything is the city doing, other than deploying the Mayor to accuse everyone who raises safety concerns of hating the poor. And with due respect to professor Harris, more police presence should be helpful in preventing rape.

Re: “Giant Eagle is urging customers not to open carry firearms in its stores

The Second Amendment does not guarantee that all people can carry any gun anywhere they want. Past Supreme Court decisions have put limits on that right. For example, in the Heller case of 2008, Justice Scalia wrote "Like most rights, the Second Amendment right is not unlimited. It is not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose."

I'm glad that Giant Eagle is asking people who carry guns to stay away. They should go further and ban guns from their stores. They're a private company. They have that right.

Guns make us less safe, so the fewer non-professionals there are toting guns in public, the safer we all are.

Re: “CNN anchor Van Jones, Rep. Ed Gainey advocate probation reform in East Liberty

I think that this event should also take place in Philadelphia, who by the way, holds way more people in jails (Local County Jails), then any other county in the entire state!.

Okay, so Wood St Station had a crime wave. That's where everyone is at night as they wait for the bus, so it's still bad.

How do we know that there wasn't a crime wave, what confidence do we have that the police department is not down-grading crime. I have no idea whether they are or not, but it's obviously possible.

Re: “Giant Eagle is urging customers not to open carry firearms in its stores

In 57 years, and in a few states, I have never seen anyone open carrying except the police. Or hunters going on a trip. Who the hell open carries. Personally I think you'd be the 1st one shot. Not to bright if you ask me.

Re: “Giant Eagle is urging customers not to open carry firearms in its stores

HELL NO it's my Federal Law Constitutional Second Amendment Right to Carry my Gun my way. I'm not putting my life in danger of someone shooting my ass or my family's friends and other people. You need to be worried about the people that carry more than one and illegal weapons and hide them. I'm not shopping at your store I'm going to Shop N Save. Your stores protect no one there. YOU CAN SAY THANK YOU WHEN AN LAW ABIDING CITIZEN SAVES YOUR LIFE AND YOUR CUSTOMERS. YOU WILL NOT TAKE MY RIGHTS AWAY. YOUR EMPLOYEES AND CUSTOMERS ARE SITTING DUCKS WIDE OPEN FOR TO BECOME VICTIMS OF A NUT TO SHOT EVERYONE. SINCE ALL YOU STUPID COMPANIES ARE ANNOUNCING THIS BAN OF LAW ABIDING CITIZEN THAT ARE NOT NUTS AND WOULD SAVE EVERYONE IF CAN. DEMOCRATS CRY YOU BEND TO SOCIALISTS. FREEDOM TO CARRY LEGALLY. WAKE UP GIANT EAGLE AND ALL COMPANIES LOSING BUSINESS. THERE ARE MORE GUN OWNERS THAN LOW INCOME FOOD STAMPS AND NOT MANY PEOPLE DON'T HAVE GUNS ANYMORE NOW A DAYS. LEGAL GUN OWNERS AND CARRY OPEN IF YOU WANT DON'T LET COMPANIES DICTATE YOUR RIGHT TO BARE ARMS AND CARRY OPEN IF WANT TOO. NO SOCIALISTS WILL WIN OVER GUN OWNERS AND OUR SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHT.

Re: “Conflict over Bloomfield’s Little Italy Days festival is coming to a head. Where does it go from here?

Richetti has to go !!! Hes making too much money.....and losing sight of what this festival is all about. As far as him taking suggestions to make changes.......i did meet with him face to face.... he didnt want to hear my suggestions......along those lines, he isnt giving the local talent any prime times or stages. Randy Galioto as Elvis draws the biggest crowd, and is consistently given sunday @ noon ! and, at the farthest stage. Jimmy C

Re: “Support addiction recovery with these Recovery Month events in and around Pittsburgh

Where and to whom does one submit their story? I saw an email address but it's a very basic one and not to any specific person. I'd like to share my story in hopes to help break away the stigma, I've suffered a great deal because of stigma and have lost so so much.
If someone would please contact me I am more than happy to share my story!
Thank you, Cathy

Re: “The Pittsburgh faces of addiction recovery

12 Step may provide many people with a community that reaches out and engages them, and it may provide something of a structure for many programs. But a close reading of this article shows that even these three individuals traveled their own paths.

Re: “The Pittsburgh faces of addiction recovery

When I first saw the headline for this article, I was excited to see an article finally investigated and written about how people reach recovery in different ways. Different paths to recovery you might say. The three people spotlighted in this article have reached recovery and should be very proud of their accomplishments. Also, they come from different walks of life. However, HOW they reached recovery was the same, a 12 step based rehab program. Rachel Schuster, the nurse in your article, was able to access individual therapy because she was employed. That was the only variety in the HOW of their recovery that I could see.

I would love to see something written about recovery that in reached and maintained using something other than a 12 step program. This has been done and continues to happen all over this country and ,dare I say the world, everyday. I've managed this myself. However, this sucess might be as rare as the proverbial unicorn for as often as it is reported.

Twelve step programs are not the only way. Investigate this topic. Addicts stay in active addiction everyday because they are led to believe 12 steps are the only way and if they aren't able to achieve success that way, they might as well not try. (See AA'S popular company line regarding denial..

Re: “Five takeaways from New York Times report on Cordelia Scaife May and the Colcom Foundation

Liberals hate anyone who believes in placing controls on immigration -- because Liberals correctly perceive that immigration is a force of nature that has been weaponized with the aim of importing an electorate that will place socialism and the party of largesse (the Democrats) into permanent power.

Re: “Five takeaways from New York Times report on Cordelia Scaife May and the Colcom Foundation

There is no moral imperative -- absolutely none exists -- requiring those of us who are already here to welcome the cultural, environmental, demographic, and political transformations that are accompanying mass immigration. The large bulk of our population growth is now immigration-driven, and our population would have stabilized by now without mass migrations. There is a vast array of related negative effects that the New York Times smear piece conveniently overlooks. Read "Into the Cannibal's Pot," by Ilana Mercer, the daughter of a liberal rabbi, if you think this woman is anything other than a heroine for resisting the open borders crowd. She had enough foresight to go against the tide. She should receive a posthumous medal of valor.
