Re: “Children’s advocates say family courts unfairly favor fathers, even when they’re the abusers

Lee - Im so sorry for your situation but this is a very accurate story about a subset population. Women with abusive narcissistic men and how the courts love them. Dont be naive. This is incredibly realistic. In the 8 years of court watching - completely accurate.

Re: “Children’s advocates say family courts unfairly favor fathers, even when they’re the abusers

Great coverage of the next big child sex abuse scandal that hasn't been reported. Just like USA Gymnastics, the Catholic Church, Penn State, Boy Scouts, BBC, etc etc, the family court system is systematically trafficking child sex abuse survivors into the full custody or unsupervised visitation of their criminal perpetrators. But imagine having to live full-time with your rapist or molester, rather than just seeing him in doctor visits, or at church once a week.

These poor kids are being DESTROYED while family court operators (attorneys, therapists, judges) make a mint off of family violence. The Association of Family & Conciliation Courts (AFCC) is responsible for spewing their "alienation" junk science all over the country, essentially training family court operatives to "disbelieve child abuse allegations" and to ignore meaningful medical evidence of abuse. It is CRIMINAL what the family courts are doing. But it is extremely profitable to suppress abuse, so like most anything else in America, follow the money....

Re: “Children’s advocates say family courts unfairly favor fathers, even when they’re the abusers

This is why I stay. I cant take the chance that my kids will end up with him or have to visit him without me there to buffer. To everyone else, he is a talented, funny, charming, professional with money. I have no doubt his money and charisma would win in court. In our home, he is a person who yells, criticizes, throws tantrums, slams doors to the point of breaking, drags, holds down - everything he can without crossing the line to leave marks so that theres proof of his behavior. There needs to be a way to report men who behave badly but dont leave marks - the internal, emotional scars are just as damaging.

Re: “Children’s advocates say family courts unfairly favor fathers, even when they’re the abusers

Thank you so much for posting the nationwide "secret" that is the reality of what is happening in family courts when a parent or child discloses abuse. I work with victims every single day, and this is truly what happens in every case that I am working on when a child discloses abuse, the abuser cries "Parental Alienation" to take the heat off of the abuse allegations. They do this because it works. It's time the public understood that this is the norm. And I thank our representatives for rallying behind #HConRes72 to get this resolution passed asap. It may be the only hope for children who are living this nightmare.

Re: “Pitt bathroom policy surprises, outrages transgender faculty, students

And just to add, as a transgendered person? When I use the restroom? I'm there for one reason only. Shouldn't that be obvious? For pete's sake, leave us alone, we just need to pee.

Re: “Children’s advocates say family courts unfairly favor fathers, even when they’re the abusers

This is exactly what I've been going through right now. I have attempted emailing news stations to look into mycase. Not only to help me, and my child, however to help other children as well. It is very frustrating when he even the court psychologist didn't do his job and simply investigate and look into everything. How many children have to go through this before somebody steps up

Re: “Five realities Donald Trump has shown us about America

Hate much? You seem to be blaming everything on the "White Voters". I find it funny that you are attacking a person who acts like a cry-baby and yet, here you are doing the very same thing. Quit crying about what people are doing and go out and try to make a change yourself. Run for an office!

Re: “Children’s advocates say family courts unfairly favor fathers, even when they’re the abusers

Though I live in Pittsburgh now, this is very similar to what I went through in Chautauqua County, NY in the 1990s. The Jamestown Fathers Rights group organized and financed the campaign of the family court judge, and placed their people on the boards of the relevant non-profits dealing with families, domestic violence, etc. It was an absolute disaster for mothers and children, as unfit fathers got full custody. Of course, being controllers/abusers, the same guys who cried about "alienation" were more than happy to cut the mother out of the picture, while the court looked the other way.

Re: “City Paper editor's statement on March 7 cover story

To those of you who are claiming this is a violation of free speech... do we really need to make it any more clear to you that representing genocide and killing black folks (or any folks who arent white) is HATE SPEECH and is a call for violence and seriously not okay? If you defend Nazis you will be seen as being a Nazi. Period. Its real easy to hide behind your pseudonym on an anonymous comment, oh brave idiots.

Re: “Pitt bathroom policy surprises, outrages transgender faculty, students

I remember sitting in a committee meeting with Robert Hill, discussing LGBTQ terminology, where he told us he didn't know what a transgender person was.

When I explained what the term meant, he waved his hand at me and said, "Well, that's never going to come up here. We don't have anyone like that."

And I thought to myself: "Really? 'Cause you're looking at one right now."

This is just appalling and amateurish, but sadly typical of a university with a cowardly Board of Trustees that is reactionary and frightened of Pennsylvania's tea-party-led government.

I notice they're can't even defend their own policy in public.

I have a beard and a male voice, they really expect women to be comfortable with me in their restrooms?

Re: “Breaking Out

I am shocked that Nuno Pontes got 12 years in solitary confinement for master minding the escape. I know he broke the law and deserves punishment, but 12 years in solitary confinement is grossly unfair in my mind. Has he been paroled? Does anyone know? If he is still in solitary confinement who do I contact about getting him placed in the regular prison population?

Also the swastika tattoo may be a small clue as to whether she holds the same beliefs as her husband.

I think it is important to add and I wish you had noted for this particular article that Matt Baker's largest campaign contributor is BIG PHARMA - even though he ran unopposed

Re: “Pitt bathroom policy surprises, outrages transgender faculty, students

I say to hell with separate bathrooms altogether. I remember being at a concert standing at a urinal when a bunch of gals came in to use the bathroom because the women's was so full. I couldn't have cared less. We're all there to do business and it ain't scoping out someone's genitalia while whizzing. And if someone has a fetish for that, well, you get a freebie. Frankly, I'm more comfortable if a lady come in to use a stall while I'm at a urinal than me and 5 guys all standing at a pissing trough! Or put stalls only in and everybody gets a private room to do their thing. Problem solved.

Re: “Breaking Out

nuno pontes is getting cruel and unusual punishment, which goes against our constitutional rights. That nosympothy guy up there is an idiot. Prison isnt fun? Talking about inmates have it made. He leftb out the part about getting naked and showering with other guys(maybe he likes that) everywhere isn't air conditioned. you are stuck with crazy idiots all day. LOUD LOUD LOUD. Only watch what they let you. The $5 doctor visit hes talking about. they will give you ibuprophen for a broken arm. I saw one guy go to the doctor saying he was having a heart attack......he's dead. they told him to fill out a sick call and wait 2 days. the food.....my dog would bite me if I fed him that stuff. Some people just dont know what they are talking about.

Re: “In the wake of massive layoffs, concern over the future of Pittsburgh Filmmakers/Pittsburgh Center for the Arts

Pittsburgh Filmmakers shows the only movies worth attending in Pittsburgh and has for many years. Charlie Humphrey is supposed to be the savior of the arts in Pittsburgh, but the truth is he looted Pittsburgh Filmmakers to bail out a bankrupt Arts center which is located in his grandmother's mansion. A spoiled rich kid living on an inheritance has the social connections to foundations who bail him out when he screws the organization he was hired to run. Shame on the foundations. In private industry or in sports, when the CEO or coach is guilty of mismanagement, do they fire all the players? Mr. Humphrey's comment about "which of my children I prefer" is most revealing. Pittsburgh Filmmakers is a public institution, not some rich kid's child or possession.
