Approximately 100 people gathered in the South Side Works to protest ICE actions in Pittsburgh and beyond. The Disappeared in America demonstrations spanned nationwide yesterday as pro-democracy organizations took to the streets. Demonstrators in Pittsburgh started at Three Rivers Heritage Park and marched to the ICE office in the South Side where local leaders spoke on the current administration’s actions. Julia Whiteker, an event organizer said, “These are crimes against humanity and our government is responsible.” As her speech concluded, the crowd erupted in a chant shouting, “No ICE, No KKK, No fascist USA.” Rain began to pour over the demonstration, but that did not stop the crowd from getting their message out.
