Re: “Like so many former Western Pennsylvania company towns, Ford City is in dire need of a comeback

This is a great tribute to our town. Very nicely written. Thank you.
How long will this be available on line to read? I'm having trouble sharing the CP longform version to Facebook.

Re: “Like so many former Western Pennsylvania company towns, Ford City is in dire need of a comeback

This article summarizes the plight of so many western PA towns: industrial decline resulting in job loss, misdirection and mismanagement in revitalization attempts, further population and quality of life decline..

Re: “Like so many former Western Pennsylvania company towns, Ford City is in dire need of a comeback

This might be worth reading if anyone outside of Ford City cared about Ford City.

Re: “Despite changing infrastructure needs in the Mon Valley, the Mon-Fayette Expressway refuses to die

This road is needed and really needs to go into Pittsburgh. All the tree huggers don't want the road. it is true the city of Pittsburgh is afraid that more businesses will got outside the city and the city wants to stop the road. whoever named this the zombie highway is a joke this road has constantly being built and there are still some steel mills that will benefit from this road. People want Pittsburgh to stay in the 1950's you go to other cities in this county and they are upgrading there infrastructure with better roads in Pittsburgh they fight everything. So maybe the rest of the country will just bypass Pittsburgh in general.

Re: “Advocates are concerned Port Authority’s new fare-check policy could lead to deportation of undocumented immigrants

Ruiz says "Port Authority's policies might not be enough to ensure LAW ABIDING undocumented immigrants avoid deportation". The only way they run your name is if you choose to ride but not pay... that is not LAW ABIDING. Pay for your ride and there is no problem

Re: “Advocates are concerned Port Authority’s new fare-check policy could lead to deportation of undocumented immigrants

Lots of cities have similar fare policies and have made commitments protect our immigrant neighbors by not checking immigration status. That's not the job of the transit police or fare control staff.

Re: “Advocates are concerned Port Authority’s new fare-check policy could lead to deportation of undocumented immigrants

Or just pay the fare and don't steal from others. Every time someone "forgets" to pay the fare, the Port Authority still has expenses that the rest of us who didn't "forget" have to bear.

Re: “Advocates are concerned Port Authority’s new fare-check policy could lead to deportation of undocumented immigrants

This is a federal dispute being blamed on a local transit agency. Instead of blaming Port Authority, why don't they go after Immigration and Customs Enforcement?

U.S Will not Bend To Ilegals who have no business being in the U.S ! Dont Change our POLICY FOR Illegals who want to dodge Deportations. Stop LETTING CRIMINALS DESTROY THIS COUNTRY BY CORRUPTING LOCAL OFFICIALS!

Re: “OSHA closes complaint against UPMC over cleaning chemical, but expert says more testing may be needed

The hospital where I work is switching to it.They tell me it's safe and all the complaints I read about were dropped because they were made up. Is it safe when mixed with water?

Re: “A new program pairing child-abuse victims with dogs helps with healing

As I envisioned what it might look like watching the dog so tender with the child or seeing the child made emotionally stronger by the dog, I could not hold back the tears. This program is profoundly beautiful. Thank you for the wonderful article.

Re: “Congressman Keith Rothfus could be in danger as three Democratic challengers step up

You can't beat a far-right incumbent with far-left challengers. Tarasi is the only one who sounds like she might have a chance. Not my choice, but more acceptable to voters in the district.

Re: “Pittsburgh stakeholders disagree on how to fund affordable-housing programs

If he's paying $500 a month rent and has been a tenant for 27 years, That's $162,000 that the owner lived off of that whole time. And I guarantee they didn't put much of that money back into the house. Why does he need to pay $49k or even $25k to keep living in his house. This is what's wrong with landlords and rental properties.

Re: “Congressman Keith Rothfus could be in danger as three Democratic challengers step up

I hope at least one of these candidates is a real progressive from the Sanders-Warren wing, not another Altmire. I heard from a few local Dems that McClelland couldn't even be coaxed into appearing at crowds that would be her natural base such as Labor Day events, etc. She did not improve her performance or fund raising in her 2nd try. I liked her, but time to move on.

Re: “Congressman Keith Rothfus could be in danger as three Democratic challengers step up

Erin McClelland was an excellent progressive candidate. She received an embarrassing level of support from the DCCC. I hope she runs again.

So Bill Cosby is in trouble. Why not Bill Clinton? Does he get a pass?

Re: “The Neverending Story: It's been 13 years since the state took over the failing Duquesne school system. So why haven't things gotten better?

We now refer to it as Pukane. And what could make things worse there? Having Krapavania step in with their Krap input on things. Krapavania is a miserable "commonwealth", (whatever that's supposed to mean). I cannot wait to move out of it. Only reason I'm here is for my elderly dad. After he's gone? Ciao to Krapavania and Turdtown. Randy McDaniels, TLC.

Re: “Congressman Keith Rothfus could be in danger as three Democratic challengers step up

I can only hope that one of these candidates will win. This district has been gerrymandered so badly it doesn't make any sense. We need someone who will represent us, not be a puppet. He could never think for himself.
