The Drink: Spicy Cocktails

Umami

202 38th St., Lawrenceville
Drink: #GodzillaTears

Ingredients: Tequila blanco, sake, Bauchant, charred serrano peppers, togarashi rim, lime wedge

Our take: This tequila cocktail promises the smooth, slightly vegetal taste of good tequila combined with a little extra fire for your palate. While the finish brings a strong warmth, the other flavor notes are mellowly sweet with a kick of sour acidity from the yuzu. The togarashi rim is a pretty final touch.

Vs.

Station

4744 Liberty Ave., Bloomfield
Drink: Study in Scarlett

Ingredients: Mezcal, strawberry, yuzu, habañero, lemon garnish

Our take: The vegetal notes of the mezcal and the tart berry flavor of the strawberry blend to create a nice softness for this cocktail. Citrusy yuzu keeps it refreshing and light on the palate, while the habañero comes in for a slow burn on the finish.
