The Abbey on Butler Street

Drink: Abbey Old Fashioned

Ingredients: Bulleit Bourbon, simple syrup, Angostura bitters, cherry and orange-peel garnish

Our take: Bulleit is a sweeter bourbon and makes itself known in this classic preparation of an Old Fashioned. Citrus hints from the orange cut some of the caramel flavor, and ice chips dilute a strong drink. Notes of baking spices and honey add nuance.

Acorn

Drink: Sean Connery

Ingredients: Bourbon, spice-orange meringue, cherry syrup

Our take: This is a lighter version of a classic Old Fashioned that still pops with flavor. It’s peaty and warm, with notes of wood smoke and cherry on the nose. The slight tartness and the foam of the meringue make for great drinkability.
