When pop-punk band Hey Monday announced its hiatus last December, lead singer Cassadee Pope chose not to sit idle, but to use the time preparing for a solo tour.
What made you want to go on a solo tour?
I figured I was [working on solo material] anyway, and I didn't have any music to really release or that I felt comfortable releasing. I just figured, "What better way to show the fans what I've been up to and what I've been writing than to just go out and play it for them live?"
Have you been to Pittsburgh before?
I love it. Actually my mom's side of the family grew up in a little town called Vandergrift, and it's just like an hour outside of Pittsburgh. We would always go to Pittsburgh, so I do have a little place in my heart for Pittsburgh.
Why is your career rewarding?
A lot of people say, "I do this for the fans," or "This is all for you guys. I'm doing it all for you." I don't really necessarily do it for the fans, I have to admit. This is something that makes me really happy, and I do it because I love it and have a huge passion for it. But definitely the most rewarding part about all of it is the fans.
