[GARAGE ROCK] + FRI., MAR. 9
Brooklyn-based Habibi combines crude garage rock sounds with girl-group hooks and harmonies, cranking out sweet, addictive tunes. They share a heritage with The Girls at Dawn (bassist Erin Campbell played with that band) and a sound with neo-garage heroes like Vivian Girls and Nobunny. Tonight the band plays the ultimate garage-rock destination, Gooski's, with The Gotobeds and Hidden Twin; DJ John Doran spins. Andy Mulkerin 10 p.m. 3117 Brereton St., Polish Hill. $6. 412-681-1658
[ELECTRONIC] + FRI., MAR. 9
Since Disco Biscuits members Marc Brownstein and Aron Magner created side project Conspirator in 2004 with DJ Omen, they've included several guest musicians in their fantastical electronic journey. They also added guitarist Chris Michetti and drummers Darren Shearer and Mike Greenfield to the mix. So while originally a marriage of just electronic elements and percussion, Conspirator is now garnering a following as a full band. Catch the group at Mr. Smalls tonight with special guest Comic Strips. Nicole Chynoweth 8 p.m. 400 Lincoln Ave., Millvale. $15. All ages. 412-821-4447 or www.mrsmalls.com
[NOISE ROCK] + MON., MARCH 12
It's been five years since No Age hit the scene and blew up as staples of the California fuzzed-out garage sound. Since then, the duo has issued two records on Sub Pop, harnessing screechy feedback as much as jangly guitars. Most recently, the band released a soundtrack to the art book Collage Culture: Examining the 21st Century's Identity Crisis. Tonight No Age plays at the William Pitt Union on Pitt's campus; locals Triggers and The Lopez open. AM 8 p.m. 3959 Fifth Ave., Oakland. $8-10. All ages. 412-648-7815 or www.wpts.pitt.edu
[INDIE] + WED., MAR. 14
Keeping it in the family seems to work well for the band Eisley. The indie rock act — which consists of siblings Sherri, Chauntelle, Weston and Stacy DuPree as well as cousin Garron DuPree — has released three full-length albums and several EPs since 2003. The band's latest undertaking, Deep Space, was released on Valentine's Day and offers five delightful songs full of dreamlike melodies and sprightly vocals. Eisley performs at the Smiling Moose tonight with special guests Tallhart and yet another DuPree, younger sister Christie. NC 6 p.m. 1306 E. Carson St., South Side. $13-15. All ages. 412-431-4668 or www.smiling-moose.com
