[BEST LOCALS] + THU., JAN. 25
There are days when I am completely overwhelmed by how many amazing bands Pittsburgh has over such a wide span of genres. It’s a trial to see all the talent when bands are playing separate shows all over the city; it makes you wish you could be in two places at once, like Luke in The Last Jedi, but less sweaty. Fret not, because tonight three of PGH’s absolute finest are joining forces for an evening of jaw-dropping local tuneage at Spirit. Behold: Hearken (catchy alt-rock with mesmerizing melodies); Calyx (mathy power-pop with painfully relatable lyrics); and late. (bouncy riot-grrrl pop and bubblegum drum-machine magic). Find me on the floor, dancing my aches away, and maybe crying, but only a little.
