Coming up this week: June 1-June 7

This week council will review two settlements in favor of plaintiffs in lawsuits against city law enforcement officers.

At tomorrow's regular meeting of council, Councilor Natalia Rudiak, who chairs the committee on finance and law will present a resolution issuing $75,000 to Taylor Condacure, who suffered injuries when he was arrested in February 2010.  Paul Parrish, who also suffered injuries during a July 2012 arrest. 

The Tuesday, June 2 meeting will also see final votes on the expansion of residential permit parking in the Crawford-Roberts area of the Hill District, the transfer of $5000 in Community Development Block Grant funding from Marion Manor Child Development and Learning Center to the Grandview Lions Club, and the transfer of $2,062.46 in CDBG dollars from the Isaiah Project to the Center for Victims. 

At the standing committee meeting on Wednesday, June 3, council will consider a resolution authorizing the city to begin a partnership with a number of community organizations to create an initiative to increase kindergarten readiness through parent mentoring. Groups involved in the initiative would include  the Pennsylvania Western Regional Office of Child Development and Early Learning, Keystone Stars, Pittsburgh Public Schools, The Pittsburgh Promise and The University of Pittsburgh Reddy Freddy Program.

There are no public hearings scheduled for this week.
