Social worker Jessica Wolfe to run for state house seat held by Jake Wheatley
Today, Pittsburgh social worker Jessica Wolfe announced plans to run for a seat in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
“The people of District 19 deserve a new approach,” Wolfe said in a press release. “I humbly ask the people of the district for the opportunity to serve them with courageous leadership and a comprehensive new strategy of working together to advance the interests of all citizens by implementing sound and fair governance.”
In the upcoming April 28 primary election, Wolfe will presumably face off against incumbent representative Jake Wheatley, who has served the 19th District since 2003. Wheatley hasn't yet formally announced his reelection bid.
Wolfe is a home care social worker with Allegheny Health Network. She serves on the board of the Allentown Community Development Corporation and is a two-term member of the Allegheny County Democratic Committee.
Wolfe is also married to Kenneth Wolfe, who previously served as a legislative aid for Wheatley and as chief of staff for District 3 Councilman Bruce Kraus.
The campaign kickoff party for Wolfe will be held Thursday, Jan. 14th from 6-9 p.m. at her campaign headquarters at 827 E Warrington Ave.
District 19 includes the Hill District, North Side, South Side, Allentown, Hazelwood, Downtown, Knoxville, Beltzhoover, Manchester, Arlington, Arlington Heights and, North, South and West Oakland.
