Campaign 2016 Silly Season: The Dems Debate

Posted By on Tue, Oct 13, 2015 at 2:01 PM

The Democratic primary contenders go under the hot lights tonight at their first debate. The debate airs on CNN, beginning at 8:30 p.m..

What to look for:

More questions about the two things every American can't stop thinking about: Benghazi and Hillary Clinton's email server.

Can a feisty Bernie Sanders score points on Clinton? If this gets ugly, it'll be like watching your grandparents fight. Assuming your family goes to the mat over living-wage policy.

Joe Biden.

The other three guys and how to spot them:

Martin O'Malley (might bring guitar)
Jim Webb (might wear combat boots)
Lincoln Chafee (might say anything)

Topics Chafee has broached on Twitter in the last two weeks: boys and violence, corporate tax evasion, drone strikes, climate change, Palestinian intifada, suspending executions, mental health in Gaza, bombing weddings in Saudi Arabia, grammar, prescription-drug prices, sexual abuse of refugees, "winter is coming," Colombia, the Marshall Islands, President Buhari of Nigeria, the UN, Edward Snowden, World War I, Hampton (N.H.) Community Picnic, and Burkina Faso.

For counter-programming:

Rand Paul is live-streaming his whole day. So far, it's been a lot of driving around and listening to classic rock. We've all been there.
Trump has already stolen half the day's media by promising to live tweet the debate.
