Three chances remain to see Broadway favorites get a unique spin from the Renaissance City Choir, the city’s only choir comprised of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and allied performers.

The choir's cabaret show, Unexpected Broadway, debuted last week. It continues with performances in the social hall of East Liberty Presbyterian Church, tonight and tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. A pay-what-you-can matinee occurs on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Unexpected Broadway features 21 performers paying tribute to shows likeThe Sound of Music, Dreamgirls, Kinky Boots, Annie Get Your Gun, The Boys of Syracuse and, appropriately, Cabaret. Press materials say the event “will surprise audiences with a fresh look at this music, featuring forgotten Broadway treasures, atypical casting of familiar songs, and mash-ups of pieces you would have never imagined.”

“The music is hilarious, moving and beautiful,” adds Jeffry Blake Johnson, the choir’s artistic director.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door ($15 in advance or $20 at the door for students). For $40, attendees can also enjoy preferred seating and a special reception. If you can’t make the Friday or Saturday performances, the choir will perform a matinee on Sunday, when there will be no set price for admission.

Tickets may be purchased in advance at the RCC website.

East Liberty Presbyterian is located at 116 S. Highland Ave.
