The rippingly funny, thoroughly rude rock musical about our seventh president has three more shows, and it's really worth running this one down.

Any play that mixes rock songs played live, caricatures of Martin Van Buren and John Calhoun, and a Susan Sontag joke is not to be missed. (OK, almost every character in it is a caricature, but still.)

Alex Timbers and Michael Friedman's wild takedown of populist politics and the American culture of celebrity — in its nascent form, with gleeful anachronisms abounding — deserves a look. Not to mention that it's a fair window into the genocide of Native Americans. And scenic designer Michael Thomas Essad clearly had a blast with the set, a grungy rock club that later does double duty as the Oval Office.

And the show gets its due from the student performers of Point Park's Conservatory Theatre Company, directed by Michael McKelvey. Here's Ted Hoover's review for CP.
