Market Square in Downtown Pittsburgh filled earlier this afternoon as women gathered to "build a social change movement dedicated to the health and well-being of Black women and girls."
It was dedicated in memory of Ka'Sandra Wade, who was killed New Year's Day, police say by her boyfriend who later killed himself during a standoff with police.
The effort, organized by a new group, New Voices Pittsburgh, is part of the One Billion Rising organization. The gathering also kicked off Women of Color HERstory Month, which is celebrated Feb. 15 through March 15.
