State advocacy organization CeaseFirePA will be hosting an anti-gun-violence event next week in Pittsburgh.
The vigil, entitled "Too Many Victims Lost to Gun Violence," will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church, 2701 Centre Ave., in the Hill District. It will honor victims lost to gun violence since the shooting of former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords on Jan. 8, 2011, in Arizona. Giffords, who's still recovering, has been advocating for tougher gun control measures. Today she's visiting Newtown, Conn., where 26 people were gunned down at an elementary school last month. This week Sandy Hook elementary students are returning to school.
