DVE Christmas Party at Diesel Tonight

Consider it Pittsburgh’s version of the 12.12.12 Hurricane Sandy benefit.

Except it's free, and instead of storm relief they're looking to help out Children's Hospital.

A cross-section of the city’s top rock talent will be at Diesel starting at 7 p.m. for the annual Randy Baumann and the DVE Morning Show Christmas Show Party.

OK, the name’s kinda long. But there’s no cover, and it’s for the kids, so who’s quibbling?

Expect holiday-themed sets from the likes of Joe Grushecky, Donnie Iris, Scott Blasey and Rob James of the Clarks, Chris Higbee, Bastard Bearded Irishmen, Fist Fight in the Parking Lot, Tres Lads, The Hawkeyes, The Triggers, The Yellers (formerly Paul Luc Band), Good Brother Earl and Donora.

Baumann (a musician himself) will be doing some morning-show bits.

There’ll even be a special appearance by Pittsburgh Dad.

The show’s partly to fundraise for UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Hospital reps will be recruiting new Children’s “DVE Rock Star” donors, who can sign up to make a monthly donation of as little as $10. Equitable Gas will match these donations up to $1,000.

Diesel is at 1601 E. Carson St., on the South Side.
