Head's Up: Three Rivers Film Festival

Posted By on Fri, Nov 2, 2012 at 4:03 PM

We reviewed six films playing during the first week of the Three Rivers Film Festival. Additionally, here are some playing over the weekend that, while we haven't seen them, look like interesting picks. More info at www.3rff.com.

The Adventures of Robin Hood. OK, I’ve seen this 1938 Technicolor swash-buckler starring Errol Flynn, and it’s a hoot any time. But it’s sure to be an even livelier experience with a live musical underscore provided by Lungs, Feet, Face, a local cumbria-gypsy-brass band. 2 p.m. Sat., Nov. 3. Regent Square

3, 2, 1 … Frankie Go Boom. A “modern comedy” (read: sex, humiliation and gross-out humor) about a pair of battling brothers. Starring Chris Dowd (Bridesmaids) and Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy). 9:15 p.m. Sat., Nov. 3 (Regent Square) and 9:15 p.m. Wed., Nov. 7 (Melwood)

Mothers of Bedford. A documentary about mothers behind bars — 80 percent of women in prison have school-age children — and their attempts to be functional parents still. Director Jennifer McShane is expected to attend screening. 2 p.m. Sat., Nov. 3. Melwood

Step Up to the Plate. Foodies should look into this doc, about the transition of a 3-star Michelin restaurant from its founding chef, Michel Bras, to his son. 2 p.m. Sun., Nov. 4, and 7:30 p.m. Wed., Nov. 7. Harris
