Room for You at This Office Space

"Eight bosses, Bob. So that means that when I make a mistake, I have eight different people coming by to tell me about it. That's my only real motivation is not to be hassled, that and the fear of losing my job. But you know, Bob, that will only make someone work just hard enough not to get fired."

Raise your hand if that bit from Office Space makes sense to you. When first released in 1999, Mike Judge's deadpan black comedy about the teeny-tiny soul-robbing horrors of the modern workplace (birthday cakes, malfunctioning printers, the tool boss who thinks he's cool) landed a bit like an incomplete TPS report. Since then, zillions of bored and disgruntled workers have discovered the film's truth-telling, and have made it a cult hit, worthy of multiple viewings.

Take in another one this weekend, on a big screen, as it plays for the Rex Theather's monthly Free Movie Night.

8 p.m. Sat., Oct. 13. (Doors open at 7 p.m.). Screening is free, but patrons are asked to buy a drink. 21-and-over.
