There's a special treat on TV tonight: a candidates debate between Pennsylvania Republicans running for statewide office -- arguing in front of an audience of teabaggers! I expect it to be a lot like a professional wrestling match ... only with more alienated white people in the audience.
You'll have the chance to see the action at 8 p.m. tonight, when PCN -- Pennsylvania's most-watched statewide governmental-affairs network -- broadcasts LIVE coverage of the "2010 Tea Party Coalition," which is gathering in Philly. The main event is a candidate's forum featuring contestants for this year's statewide races. (Candidates in other races will also be appearing.)
Scheduled to appear, according to the station: Senate candidates Pat Toomey and Peg Luksik; gubernatorial candidates Tom Corbett and Sam Rohrer; and Lieutenant Governor hopefuls (is that really the right word? I mean, if you're choosing to run for lieutenant governor, haven't you already given up all hope?) Joe Watkins, Steve Johnson and Russ Diamond.
I'm not expecting much in the way of fireworks, to be honest -- though there's always the chance Corbett indicts somebody, just for kicks. But hey -- it's a Tea Party gathering. So this is one of those few GOP events where the audience could be nuttier than the people onstage. For those of us who don't have cable, PCN thoughtfully streams video live online as well. Remember: The spittle can't hit you if you're watching online.
