We've gotten word that at tomorrow's county council meeting, county councilor Bill Robinson will propose "prevailing wage" legislation similar to that pending before the city. There have been rumblings about this bill for awhile now, but Robinson himself left a message at CP offices earlier today indicating his intention to introduce the measure tomorrow. 

Details on the bill are scarce at this point. It's not clear, for example, whether the bill will apply to development sites in perpetuity, as the bill currently pending before city council does. But the measure seems certain to be significant, for a few reasons. 

First, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl has made it clear that he doesn't want a city ordinance to go into effect unless the county passes a similar measure. And for supporters, the bill's timing would be fortuitous for another reason: County Executive Dan Onorato is running for governor. And Ravenstahl's controversial veto of a 2009 prevailing bill has already become an issue, after gubernatorial candidate Joe Hoeffel expressed his "disappointment."

There's already been some debate about whether Onorato is really a progressive or not. This could be an interesting test.
