Pittsburgh Opera’s Resident Artists comprise the cast for this performance of Richard the Lionheart, an opera that was written in 1723 but has never been seen in Pennsylvania before, and has only ever been performed one other time in the U.S. (St. Louis, 2015). Featuring a partnership with Pittsburgh’s Chatham Baroque and Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama, the opera follows the story of King Richard, his wife, Costanza, and a war that broke out between kingdoms over her love.
