      <![CDATA[Ballooning student debt has some similarities to the housing bubble in terms of the people who take out loans (and in terms of the vultures who prey on them, not least the unscrupulous operators like for-profit colleges, who serve a function analogous to predatory lenders). But it is very different in terms of its systemic impact.

    I agree with most everything you say, and had my post not already been too long, I would have addressed one your points: that college looms ever-larger in importance as good-paying blue-collar jobs have disappeared.
