Great idea. We've moved from Pgh but read this weekly and always make notes for visits back, which always include checking out the latest restaurant, bar, brewery, etc. So, the more intel the better.

Pittsburgh ex-pat so I haven't been here, but...ugh...say no more; "the force behind Diesel, Steel Cactus, Dominic's Famous Deli and Bottle Shop, Skybar, Delanie's Coffee and Local Bar + Kitchen."

The person who stated that the cabs in Pgh are 'safe and well maintained' has likely never been in a Pgh Yellow cab. I've been in cleaner, safer cabs in Mexico City...seriously. The assertion that Pgh does not have a large potential cab user base is faulty. While not the size of NY or Chicago, Pgh does not have the nominal demand but likely a similar demand proportional to the size of population. The difference is that Pgh does not have the supply, reliability or service level. There is likely low perceived demand bc people like myself gave up on a Yellow a long time ago after enough no-shows, comically late shows and experiences with horrible cars, people driving them or a combo of the two. Fear of competition is often fear of being exposed for having an inferior product, service, etc.

My experience has been that Round Corner is straddling the style side of the line much more than the speed side. I was there last Tuesday the 12th for the first time in a year+ and was reminded why it has been so long and why it will longer until my next visit. While the place was fairly busy it was not chaotic but the bartenders and servers struggled to keep up from what I simply honestly have to call ineptitude. If there was chaos it was behind the bar and it showed with many disappointed patrons. I sat at the bar as Ms Fitzgerald herself argued with two 60+ women who came to the bar looking to pay their bill after not seeing their waitress for 15-20 minutes. Ms Fitzgerald told them they were 'exaggerating' about the wait. Maybe they were but I do know that I and members of my party experienced very similar waits. While Ms Fitzgerald did comp the older ladies a round, after they left she spent some time ridiculing them in open earshot of the bar patrons. Drinks coming fast? I think not. Nothing came fast in my experience at the Round Corner except for the employees complaints and commentary about their customers.
