I feel bad for those instructors.
Ultimately it seems the only ones who win with For-profit colleges are the EXECUTIVES.
Vulnerable consumers are the sponge for the federal money. Admissions and Financial Aid are the disposable hands to squeeze the Federal money out of those vulnerable consumers at all costs. The instructors are just bait to lure/keep in those vulnerable consumers long enough for the financial aid to extract that Federal money.
Not even the investors win with these fraudsters. Why is EDMC still in business? Well paid Lobbyists that are buying up Congress. Thats all.
Todd Nelson and Jock Mckernan turned EDMC & Ai into nothing more than an elaborate scam to funnel government money out of the poor & veterans and leave them with the bill.
I HOPE their new Ed West will be smart enough to return the funds with interest from all of those students they've ripped off, but I doubt it. He's already letting Todd Nelson, his cronies, and Jock Mckernan take their ill-gotten money and run.
Awwwwww poor scammers...
Wouldn't this round of layoffs put them over the top that they have to report them?
They should refund the students they ripped off. Once again the exects are shifting all the staff that actually help. This is mindboggling how obvious their scam is now. I hope the government is watching this. Its clear they dont care about students or even educating.
"Read this", remember that when you hug your kids at night. Knowing that you are ruining their financial future. Sure, you make some bucks now, but you're just helping these scammers set up shop and continue to scam.
"Really?", Credit Card debt is not the same as Student loan debt. Its why these creeps are giving student loans to anyone who breaths and looking for anyone who breaths to sign up to their schools. Student loans have no consumer rights.
Federal student loans are basically printed money to them. Everyone with a pulse is guaranteed. EDMC doesn't care because they get the money and can send the students up river.
You know what a majority of OCCUPY is and was about? Student loan debt. Private student loan debt, for which EDMC is a major cause.
EDMC MUST be such a good company. Always taking care of their students. That's why they're DESPERATE for "GOOD" alumni coverage.
Do you know why regular colleges get endowments? Because alumni are PROUD of their schools and donate back to the school to keep it going. They get government grants for specific things. Its because those schools have research and development programs designed to create technology or cure a disease/ailment. They put in the effort to earn that money.
You can't put the for-profits in the same category as those. You can't even put them on the same tier as a community college. All they are is elaborate fronts to garner as much FEDERAL funding as possible. The private student loans they're tricking people into is nothing more than extra funding to pad the fact that most of their funding is federal and they'd go over the 90/10 rule easily.
Employers have been onto EDMC and the for-profit college scam for a long time. Why do you think most of the graduates who get jobs are the ones who already had a job and just needed the piece of paper to move on. And I'm sure they are even regretting it because the debts are too high.
The media is onto you all. I just hope the government closes the books on you and you're left to the true free market, where you have to show the consumers your prices and they go "HAHAHAHAHA" and scoff and walk off, instead of the hidden price tags and low standards.

IF Edmc is such a GOOD company and has GOOD schools, why do these stories keep happening? Isolated incidents?
No.
Just corporate spin and cooking the books to hide the truth.
I can't believe people would try to protect them so selflessly when they know the paycheck won't be there all the time and they're just a pawn to corporate cronies.
They found victims who can't speak up for themselves because by the time they find out its too late and they blame themselves.
You're basically being tools to Goldman Sachs who found another way to milk the Federal Reserve.
Re: “EDMC says it's focusing on students most likely to succeed”
They're going to offer bad institutional private loans they know are going to go bad and scholarships to try keep raising the amount of Federal Aid they get. It's such a scam.
