what a beautiful show!! I think it closes this week, if you can see it, you should!
How in the world did they get $19 million to build a giant concrete thing no one needs when human beings and small local businesses are being forced out of East Liberty and the Hill needs rebuilding?!? Connecting is all well and good, but how about emphasizing more PROTECTING our people?!?
So proud of Congressman Doyle and Mayor Peduto for taking a stand on this. We need to fix this problem with guns....Australia did, and we can too!!
Wow.... this is a shock for sure. All these gentlemen were extremely hard working a dedicated employees. As a student and member of Pgh Filmmakers, I got to see them at work. I am wildly disappointed in this decision to let them go. I can't imagine how the "right" people to step forward could be any better at keeping that incredible institution than they have already been doing. The restructuring is throwing out the baby with the silver chemical bath....getting rid of the people who helped make it the special place it is..... I am beyond disappointed. I was putting together my money to re-enact my membership dies.... this makes me doubt seriously whether I need to be a member of an organization of a group who doesn't value their greatest human resources.

I really have a hard time believing this. *IF* anything like this actually went down, I'm sure there is more to the story, I think your slanderous use of public forums to spread libel and allege these things is hateful and if you were telling the truth you would not feel a need to say these things in this manner.
Lame..... Extra super lame. This reminds me of when the Cultural Trust removed the Carolina Loyola Garcia video a couple years back from the Arts Festival. Her bare breasted model in "Milk and Honey" was just too much for some reactionary fool with sexuality issues. It seems the powers that be are not so interested in preserving any local culture at all and want the street cred for being artsy without the awful stink of anything that might cause a thought, which is one of the major reasons for art in the first place. When an art gallery starts censoring freedom of expression of its own free will, you have to wonder, what is their real motive?
Great story Bill! Thank you for posting! Apparently there is another event this Sat May 22 at 6 pm at Landslide Community Farm in the Hill District, there is a spaghetti dinner, proceeds going to Climate Ground Zero, and a letter writing campaign to send to the activists who were jailed this week and can't post the $100,000 bail..... Our little fundraiser was nice, but we didn't come close to raising that kind of cash!
