A 20-year veteran of print journalism, Charlie Deitch started his career at his hometown newspaper covering town councils, hoagie fund-raisers and high-school wrestling. Since then he’s covered stories from police corruption and civil rights issues to high-profile homicides and legalized cock fighting, for newspapers stretching from Northern Wisconsin to South Louisiana. In 2000, while working as a staff writer at the former In Pittsburgh, Charlie wrote a story that resulted in freedom for a legal immigrant imprisoned for five years without charges by the INS. Today he serves as news editor for City Paper, reporting on a wide range of topics, most recently covering issues around for-profit education.
