I left Pittsburgh in 2008 but kept reading DK. I'm in.
Check out FERC-101 on www.ferc-101.blodspot.com and learn the KNOWN health dangers with pipeline development and operation.....These are FACTS...Compressor Stations spew carcinogens AND toxins 24/7----screaming 24/7---lit up 24/7. ---- Check out the group in WV educating the public on these nd Liquid Separators and Valve Meters - all the things the GAS companies do NOT talk about: WV WILDERNESS LOVERS vs PROPOSED PIPELINES: https://www.facebook.com/wvwildernesslovers.vs.proposed.pipeline?ref_type=bookmark
As a Pittsburgher born and bred, Dejan is about the only print journalist I've followed in recent months. His style is honest but fair and his sense of humor adds to his efforts. He doesn't take himself too seriously and is always willing to interact with his readers. Congratulations to Dejan and good luck! He is making a bold move and I believe it will pay off!
I guess all the Health problems all the experts who work with the chemicals are wrong... Just a coincidence... The smoking industry told their sales people smoking was safe too! Hello- they have an agenda! Their agenda is money not people- not anything else! Not even their employees. If this is so safe let the Twp supervisors or the farmers who want it put it on their land!
I signed up. Great insight into pittsburgh sports.
Dejan's columns and blogs are often interesting enough, but, wow, does he demonstrate an ego beyond belief, which intrudes in his writing. From his constant and shameless plugs for radio appearances and other media events to the recent (and more frequent) nasty comments directed at any participants in his chats who dare to disagree with him or question his views, Dejan has gone over the top with his perceived local celebrity. I always wondered how many "Press" colleagues were thrilled to see him depart their office; now, I frankly wonder if he simply wore out his welcome at the "Trib." Bob Smizik is still the standard for Pittsburgh sportswriters.
To Jorgensen, Jay Mariotti is not a bigger name than Dejan Kovacevik in 2014. Maybe in 2005, pre-allegations and when he was still on ESPN.
It's simple: Dejan has 51k Twitter followers ... Jay has 2k.
Um, good luck with that. Jay Mariotti, a much bigger name, tried this same concept and it was a bomb. Is Dejean really going to travel to road games? How's that gonna work when the Steelers and Pens are both on the road at the same time? How bout when the Pirates have a big story breaking and he's allegedly in Columbus covering the Pens?
Methinks it'll really be just Dejean bloviating from his couch on topics, doing no real reporting. So, on that basis, I'm out.
This is why we need police officers who actually LIVE in Pittsburgh - not hillbillies from the surrounding area who don't know how to behave in a city.
This is the best news I've heard all summer.
The chemical impact of these compressor stations is VERY VERY small, almost obsolete. Especially if they're built and maintained correctly. (I work at one of these sites)
Yes, they're loud. But if the developers re-work the site (build hills in all the right places), the noise can be drastically minimized.
This farmer needs to lighten up. It's not the end of the world. His cows will still taste yummy and even disciminating consumers (of which I am one) will still buy them.
what a pussy!
Go to http://www.lyftvsuber.com/ to try out Uber or Lyft for yourself! The website compares the two most popular ride-sharing services. $30, $25 of FREE ride credit for new passengers and up to $500 sign-up BONUS for new drivers!! Drivers can make as much as $40/hr! Hope you can see what all the hype is about :) Thanks!!
The Taxi companies need a wakeup call. If you're soooo worried about Uber and Lyft maybe you should take a look at the service you offer. If you were reliable Uber and Lyft would be no threat to you. I don't live here but visit often. Getting a cab for a trip downtown is impossible. I would never have even tried Uber if the yellow cab was even close to being reliable. Now I am the biggest Uber fan. Go hide in the corner and stuck your thumb yellow cab. Let the better ride service do their job.

The City should absolutely not move or close this park. All dog owner need to unite and call the Mayor’s office and complain to 311.
Pat Ward is a cranky old lady that thinks Olympia park is her front yard. She calls the police all the time to complain about noise for anything going on in the park. She once called the police over the noise from a little league baseball game. Also her argument that the park is in a residential area is crazy. ALL CITY PARKS ARE IN RESDENTIAL AREAS!
If a deer shits in the woods, does it make a sound? No one knows. However, Patricia Ward knows that when a dog goes to the bathroom a few hundred feet from her front door, her incredibly sensitive nostrils and ear drums are assaulted by this vicious act of nature. I can only assume that she was extremely comfortable with the quiet and pleasant smelling drug dealers and graffiti sprayers that formerly inhabited the park. The anti-park sentiment is nothing but the manufactured outrage of curmudgeons and dog haters. Why should an entire city (and this is city property) be held hostage by the infantile crying of a very small minority who are upset over imagined slights. These are clearly the type of people that refuse to give back the kid's ball when it finds itself inside of their property line. No one likes that person. No one should pander to that person. Democracy is not a political system wherein the loudest asshole always wins.
Those other dog parks should be happy Pat Ward doesnt live thete they would be closed too
Come on Ginzberg - Downtown is 2 miles away from Oakland, and you have 8 bus routes and 4 major roads connecting the two.
10 bus routes and 6 major routes if you start including Centre & Bigelow.
