Shame that real winners of the contest didn't actually get to play the giant cowbell in Pittsburgh or get free tickets to the show.
You can preorder Butterbirds cassette here: http://seizureman.storenvy.com/collections…
Introspection is one of my frequents for sure!
stosh this review is shit. pls pls let go the word ironic.
Interesting interview! MGMT doesn't get half the credit they deserve - Loved Congratulations and the new album, and I hope they continue to evolve and experiment as a band!
I feel bad for people who don't get this band. They're by far doing some of the most interesting stuff in music nowadays, and it's irritating when people criticize them for being too weird.
If you don't have a ticket to this, you should get one. MGMT=Pink Floyd/Led Zeppelin/Styx/Roxy Music and 90's Alice n Chains. The latter in terms of awesomeness relativity.
She's Stole My Heart Can I Please Have It Back
I WAANT TO HEAR ITTTT
How is it no one knows what a liar and manipulative asshole this guy really is?
This article brings up some great points when it comes to musicians looking to get their music heard. In the past, and still today it's record labels that do the marketing. However, when it comes to unsigned Artists they are left with that job.. unless they find the right people to help them. Musicians often need to do much more than just write good music, record, and perform live.
" In that short time, the duo had found a way to deconstruct the folk songs she had written. Experimenting with Etienne's collection of vintage synths and jamming at all hours of the day and night, the two ended up with nine playful and compelling tracks that reflect a wide range of influences."
Wduq.com has been streaming the DUQ jazz channel with Bob Studabaker and Tony Mowad hosting as always, It's also being broadcast on 90.5FM HD channel, if you have an HD radio.
They've just announced WYZR. 88.1FM a new 24/7 jazz channel in Pittsburgh.
To that, add jazzradio.com which streams 10 or so different jazz streams, including Current Jazz, which is nicely different from the DUQ stream and SonicUniverse at SomaFM.com which plays an interesting mix of progressive jazz.
Support live jazz. Little E's, CJ's, Savoy, James Street, Andy's at tha Fairmont.
Hey! Infinite Third Billy Mays III show is on FRIDAY Sept 20, not Sat!!! And it is going to be a BLAST!
In the end, Shadow Lounge is yet another lost institution in a place that forgets itself most of the time, and accepts box stores to fill the cultural void. Of the hundreds of restaurants Pittsburgh had (Poli's, George's Diner, Unique Pizza Factory) few remain, replaced by Panera Bread and other crap. Primanti's is possibly the only "legend" growing and making the cut year after year.
I wish WPTS published the song list after they play them, since they rarely announce what they played. I'm often in my car and hear something I like, and have no way to find out what it is.
Underground Inc, Steel City Jungle, Dieselboy, 187, Andy Sine, Ruffian, Soji Fu, XL and crew definitely layed a very strong foundation for jungle / drum and bass music in pittsburgh.
There's still a few keeping it going every wednesday night at the Bloomfield Bridge Tavern with FUZZ.
Please note that there's an error in the article, an error in quoting some lyrics.
"I never liked the name Joshua, I got tired of James." Nope, not "James," but "J."
Because one of the names this artist has used is J. Tillman.
Not sure where the "James" even came from...
This makes me wonder what else in the article might be incorrect.
Def the place to be! U did a wonderful job Mike. Mom would be proud!
