these hipsters overcharge for everything and absolutely CANNOT cook or brew a decent cup of coffee. $12 for a biscuit and coffee?!? once again the city paper like the post gazette are a bunch of empty white rich kids with zero credibility
For the 1st time we went to this restaurant. It was good that we went so now we know that we do not have to bother with this restaurant!
- very strange arrangement it is like a house and they take you through narrow hallways to a room furnished with the cheapest furniture that seems to be made from matchbox wood. If you touch these short wooden chairs they fall. They are so short even for me only 5'2! The table so short your knees uncomfortable. They stuff people around these little furniture and they keep adding more of these light wood furniture that at times people might put food in the mouth of the person stuffed next to them.
There was no coat hanger so I put my jacket on one of these chairs. The manager said he needed that chair so I told him he can move my very fine wool jacket and he dropped it on the bare floor!!
My food was so small that I could not believe it. My stuffed egg plant was so small that it would fit into 2 table spoon. There was like 1 tea spoon of ground meat on it. The eggplant was bitter. there was two sides with this food in two containers same size as your dressing for your salad at restaurants. Not to be so hungry we asked for bread. It seems they make it. But the bread was basically slightly heated though. After two bites you would feel pain in your belly. Every thing was so cheap and unprofessional. Do not recommend it at all!
Can't agree more with your assessment - Chi Chi's 2.0 with worse service. Vastly disappointing.
The Abbey's Smoky Provolone Burger is amazing... I dream about this burger in between visits.
I mean, the place is fine - better than most of what Lawrenceville has been regurgitating lately. These descriptions, though, are wildly exaggerated and inaccurate.
Deeply Old World atmosphere? Iconoclastic? Pittsburgh's newly hip clientele?
There twice, soggy pierogies each time. Such easy food to cook!!
I am looking for the recipe from Islays sweet & Sour salad dressing.......LOVE IT and is has been so very long since I enjoyed it. Years ago my sister-in-law and I would go to Monroeville Mall where they had an eat n Islays and we both always got that salad, loving the dressing......anyone have the recipe? Many thanks Pat Serakowski @ email@example.com
I love station. the bartender always has great recommendations for both food and awesome drinks. it is a great place to grab two forks and share each dish with a friend. I enjoy the variety of ingredients -- each bite makes you pause and enjoy the flavors to come. kind of like an everlasting gobstopper!
Thanks for the write up . I'll try Insurrection tonight at about 4pm. Hopefully my buddy Jake Henny is pourin' beers.
This Thai restaurant is authentic and out of this world flavors of food. It's a must try if you're in Pittsburgh! Tom Yum Soup is very good, restaurant's specialty Pad Thai is awesome!
My favorite Masaman Curry. I love Nicky the owner very humble talented cook, Eddie the head chef is a terrific cook too!
Do Scarpaci's next! Wednesday is wing night, and standup comedy starts at 10pm. The wings are great and the beer is nearly free. Plus I can smoke in between wings without having to go outside.
Thanks for visiting, reviewing. I have to mention-- all cocktails are $6 during happy hour (5p-7p). This makes it affordable for locals to meet here regularly for the highest quality cocktails.
Egg scrambler with spinach, feta, tomatoe, potatoes, with Mancini toasted raisin bread does it for me. Yep.
I'm with Friendship Resident. I wish I could get Angelique and Jason to reimburse me for the mediocre meal I had at Prairie on Saturday night after I booked a reservation based on this review. The steak and potatoes entree was poorly executed and the beef was low-quality, my meatloaf had no tower of onions on it like the one shown here and no jus on the plate either, and the cheese board was sad, sad, sad. Prairie gets a big NOPE from me, I won't be back.
The sleaziest bar in pittsburgh. I was assaulted at this bar. Even though it happened in plain sight, none of the bartenders, bouncers or anyone helped me in any way whatsoever. Didnt offer me ice for me bleeding face, didnt accost the perpetrator, nothing. Later I went back and the manager didnt do shit. A very disgusting, unsafe place that attracts a rough crowd and careless employees. Avoid at all costs. There are plenty of better bars out there.
I could name you about 10 other places to eat around that area that are better-tasting, and less expensive. Apparently nobody at the CP tried the "Steak and Potatoes" menu item. For almost $30, it's absolutely awful. Plus on a Friday, the place was practically empty. Jeff should expect the air to leak from this concept as well, since it's poorly executed.
This place is an oasis. The menu is always the highest quality, the service is understated precision and the bar is so welcoming you almost forget your dinner reservation. Perfetto!
Should have gotten the amazing avocado curry... :-)
