Did you really just refer to a pasta shape as "subtly witty"?
This place is incredible! Stopped there for breakfast sandwiches before a Saturday matinee at the Hollywood Theater. Can't wait to go back and try what else they have to offer!
@cpc250, thank you, they added them to the page after I asked them to.
@Marcy - I found their hours on their Facebook page, hope this helps!
Mon: 10:30 am - 7:00 pm
Tue - Fri: 8:00 am - 7:00 pm
Sat - Sun: 8:00 am - 3:00 pm
This place looks great. Like so many other small, locally-owned spots, though, it's impossible to find their hours on their website or Facebook!
This place is fantastic. I could not wait to go back. So different from the pre-fab Chinese-American fare we are used to. Get the Traditional menu and try something different.
Next time stick to his tried and true staples (available for lunch special every day): Jerk Chicken, Brown Chicken, and Curry chicken!
Dave, the menu seems to have changed a bit since was there, so I can't recall everything, but we had the Chopped Live, Pork Cheeks, Bone Marrow, brick chicken, brussels sprouts and a salad that is no longer on the menu, as well as the sticky toffee pudding (to die for) and pot de creme.
What did you order, Marcy? sounds like they did a nice variety looking at the simple to more complex dishes. A good test of a new place is if they can correctly cook their proteins and here it sounded like they missed the mark.
No cocktails or dessert? All your entrees were beef? I actually loved the Commoner but I think we tried more variety than you did.
Going to Emil's and not ordering the fish sandwich is like going to Vinnie's and ordering a salad !
I'm a great fan of Sichuan Gourmet also in Sq Hill... can't wait to try this place!
I have dined there three times and although I think the view, the space, and the service are great, the food is always just a shade away from being right - excellent review.
excellent review wetting my appetite to try Chengdu Gourmet... Asian food is taking over Sq. Hill and happy for it..
I ordered the butter poached lobster tails on Valentine's day and they were served dry and tough. I think it was death by heat lamp. I found none of it extraordinary.
I have been to Wild Sage a few times and the experience has always been outstanding...good service , great food, friendly people, comfortable decor.
My husband and I have had dinner at One Thirty One East on several occasions and every visit has been a great experience! The food and service always top notch! We've had several of their signature dishes, one being Paella, which was wonderful! My husband had Osso Bucco and it was also outstanding. We've had Chicken and Grits, Lamb Noodle and Scallops as well. We can't wait for the weather to break, so we can go back. The appetizers are rocking it too! Love those Brussels Sprouts! What a treat to see such dedicated people bring a new look and outstanding food to Carnegie. Congratulations Foodie Pittsburgh!
Pricey but had a really nice night. Food was really good. Was told to go for the brussels sprouts. I still like the ones at Butcher in the Rye better but they're really good too.
We went there last night for a party. Expected 7 persons. It grew and grew. Each time more came the staff handled in stride. For all 20 who made it. The staff had led all and orders were taken and delivered. All shared there food (pizzas mostly) and some appetizers. What delicious meat balls. The wait staff was not even visible as they went about their business And everything got done.
Thats all about the service. You can go you self to taste the best pizza ever. At least try the meat ball appetizer. Make my wine red.
Bravo and best wishes to Ling who is an incredible Thai chef and truly genuine good soul... That beauty shows in her food and her magical unusual sauces.. So happy she has returned to my neighborhood.. I shall be eating there often...
