Re: “North Country Brewing Company

While I enjoy their beer and food, the bartenders are horrible and pretentious. You will wait 10 minutes for a beer while they chitchat away. Yeah I'm talking about you Freeze especially. The hippy guy (Dave?) is okay though. Don't sit at the bar.

Re: “North Country Brewing Company

Thanks for a terrible article!! You could do more than print a half-formed idea as a "column". It would be nice if this article had a few more paragraphs to actually explain what the bar is and where it is and perhaps a photo or two. If someone had never heard or this place, I doubt they would learn a darn thing from this terrible excuse for writing. This "paper" is yet another reason I am often ashamed of Pittsburgh.

Re: “Route 19 Beer & Cigar

Sounds like a cool spot. Added to the list for when I make it through the area. Always good to have more craft beer store options as they can be thin in some areas. Beer and cigars you say? How about cigars infused with hops?

Re: “Brighton Heights Java n' Crème House

I went to this coffee shop less than 30 minutes ago for the first time in my entire life. It is officially the best coffee shop in existence.

Re: “Pawpaw Trees

I'm Pro Paw Paw and I vote!

I lived in Athens,Ohio for most of the last decade,(Home of the Ohio Paw Paw Festival) and why you haven't heard of this fruit may be for a few reasons:

1. the localvore movement really put native fruits on the map.

2. paw paw trees take a long time before producing fruit (seven years? I could be wrong)

3. Only recently has the propagation n produced really yummy cultivars, as they are pretty touch and go in the wild, much like apples were 100 years ago...

4. It is an unusual taste, kind of like a banana that tastes like a mango.

That being said, tons of folks in Ohio, PA, Maryland have done incredible work in developing paw paw strains that are super delicious. Paw paw cultivation is on the rise in the region, and a lot is due to Chris Chmiel at Integration Acres!

Paw Paw Beer is amazing, by the way. Marietta Brewing makes it for the Paw Paw Festival every year.

Re: “Gluuteny Bakery

I commend them on their efforts to create such a wonderful product! I have been through so many different goodies and sweets with my child and none compare to Gluuteny's. Their muffins, cupcakes and muffins are exceptional! When you enter the bakery the aroma is sweet and delicious. Jessica is also dedicated to customer satisfaction. I hope Gluuteny remains for a very long time for those who are food allergy challenged, such as my child. I never feel he is deprived of enjoyable baked goods after having found Gluuteny!

Re: “Liberty Avenue Deli & Smoothies

wow, things must have drastically changed because i had one of the worst food experiences with them on feb 17, 2011

my review on urban spoon:
the soup: tasted like campbell's chicken noodle (high sodium, low quality dark chicken)

the chef's salad: had low quality ham, turkey and they cut strips of american cheese slices- they looked exactly like kraft singles

the seasoning on the corned beef was off- this place doesn't have italian bread?

the smoothie was ok

Re: “Tupelo Honey Teas

I have searched for many different unprocessed tea blends that not only satisfy, but create an intriguing, memorable moment. However, Tupelo Honey Tea's are, by far, the most creative and delicious blends. I don't know what this company is doing to come up with them, but they never cease to amaze me...and my taste buds.

Re: “Tupelo Honey Teas

Tupelo Honey Teas not only has great variety, but the owner is willing to blend special new blends for events!

Re: “Tupelo Honey Teas

Tupelo Honey Tea is awesome. I have it shipped to Virginia. I only drink decaf and they have a great selection.

Re: “J'eet

I completely agree with the other comment. The wait staff is rude and the owner missing in action. And yes Panera would be an improvement over what goes at this place

Re: “Deli on Butler Street

This deli shop sucks - they clearly don't understand how to run a business as the service is terrible and the food is average. It may have been successful until lately as the only other options were Subway and Wendy's, but now there are many more options with quality food like La Gourmandine, Tamari, etc.

Re: “Pi knows pizza to several decimal places.

Pi's Pizza is excellent! I've tried many on the menu already - all of them delicious. The Italian Tuna, which is not yet on the menu is wonderful! For me picking just one favorite is difficult - the crust is perfect - sauce is perfect - toppings are exceptional - all very high quality. The Arugula House Salad is the best salad I've eaten anywhere!!! I hear a new lunch menu is coming - I can't wait!! Thank you for bringing such great food to the South Side - I'll be a regular!

Re: “Pi knows pizza to several decimal places.

I COULDNT AGREE MOORE. PI IS DINNER OUT TO ME---BEGINNING WITH THE SUPERB HOUSE SALAD OF ARUGAlA WITH A DRESSING LIKE NO OTHER. I WAS TOLD IT CONTAINS MAPLE SYRUP--MAYBE THATS THE TASTE SECRET. NOW, ON TO THE PIZZA. MY FAVORITE IS ONE NOT YET SHOWN ON THE MENUE. AN ITALIAN TUNA TOPPING WITH CAPERS. AND' AGAIN THAT DELICATE CRUST. MY CABERNE WINE AND "I HAVE DINED" THANK YOU PI FROM EILEEN MILLIKEN

Re: “Arsenal Cider House & Wine Cellar

As a home mead and wine brewer myself, this place's mere existence thrills me. I hope they start putting out mead sooner than two years from now - it's my amateur opinion that a fine mead can be ready in as few as six months - I can't wait to see what they've got!

Re: “Bistro To Go

I love Bistro to Go the meals are creative and it's a new eating experience every time I go in there to eat. I must admit that I have a favorite on Wednesday's they have buffalo chicken Macaroni and cheese. Um simply to die for! Went I have a meeting I take my guest there to eat. I've use the word-of-mouth advertisement by telling all of my family and friends to go there to eat. This is just what our community needs.
