Being called "cracker" is unpleasant, but to equate that with the N-word is incredibly ignorant and, yes, racist. Most racism is subtle and unintentional, but still very harmful. If you don't understand why, then you need to read up on systemic racism and white privilege. After all, you can't be a good advocate for queer rights if you don't stand for ALL queer people.

It's true what Pennsylvania says about the schools preferring to hire cheaper, less experienced teachers. When I taught there 10 years ago, there just wasn't as much supply to meet the demand - now it's shifting the other way. My friends have had great luck lately finding reasonable paying jobs on the Korean ESL Job boards. There are some you need to steer clear of but there are some good ones out there. Clark thinks it was a bad idea for the City to go to court to bring UPMC into compliance with the charities law, because "When you deal with a bully, you have to anticipate how that bully will behave." Later in the article, she is described as an advocate for victims of domestic violence. Has anyone else noticed the irony here?

Johnny Lee would be a rubber stamp for Wagner should both win the primary. Lee owns Coachs Bar, Banksville Plaza. Will he give up the bar for the full time council position. Lee said of Wagners are a predominate political FAMILY OF THE south hills. That's the problem political dynasties like the Wagners and Ravensthals send the wrong message. This isn't fudel England.

This clinic Tadiso is a Very Non Client Friendly Clinic, The Doctor there (Dr. Reese) Berates the Clients and Insults and Degrades the Clients Calling them Worthless and many other Negative things. I have been to a few MMT Clinics and this one is by far the Worst, It is like Pulling Teeth to get an increase on, your Methadone there and Dr. reese always pulls out this paper that some moron wrote that the Majority of MMT Patients are stable with a 40 mg Dose. This is a Very Misleading Statement as everyones body and addictions are different. I have heard from many fellow patients there who have had bad experiences there and with Dr. reese, I am NOT stable on my dose which is 60mg. My Counselor surprisingly knows Very Little about Methadone and is NO Help what so ever. I Only wish I had Private Insurance and was able to return to Discovery House which is much more client Friendly and they dont have a problem increasing your dose past 60. I am really stuck between a rock and a hard place, I am looking at options such as contacting JACO or one of the Government agencies that deals ith MMT to Voice my Concerns, I should not have to do this but unfortunately I have no other otion

Grew up in Brookline, went to Seton, and I think Mr. Lee may be a few credits short of that street degree. Rudiak has been a breath of fresh air, and done excellent work for the community. Mr Lee, who has never held an office, would be better served in listing some goals he has if elected, and not waste his time negative campaigning against Ms Rudiak. I have heard nothing from him beyond negatives toward her, and how tied in he might be with others in government. His continued focus on her not getting along with Ravenstahl is fast becoming a positive point in her campaign, and his lack of understanding that says a lot.

Mr. Adams, rain barrels are partly to save water but mostly, as I understand it, to prevent excessive runoff which can worsen sewage overflow and flooding like we had on Washington Blvd. RE fracking, do you really want it in our urban area any more than you would want coal mining under your house? I personally come from several parts of the country and I proudly call Pittsburgh home and hardly think we're dying and appreciate what diversity and social and political debate we have. I say, let's all pitch in to make this the best city it can be!

I have followed City Council closely, and as much as I find Peduto calculating in his political correctness and disappointing in his penchant for corporate welfare subsidies, I find Rudiak to be candid, courageous and straightforward, taking on issues in a very genuine way.

Where do these people come from? Worrying about rain barrels to save water with huge rivers flowing by? Worrying about fracking when people can't afford to heat their homes? No wonder it's a dying city, led by lemmings racing over every politically correct cliff there is.

As someone who mentored and coached students at Seton LaSalle, Mr. Lee should think twice before criticizing someone for earning master's degree from a great university. It IS possible to be well educated and dedicated to your community without losing your roots which is exactly what Ms. Rudiak has demonstrated.

What an antiquated view - "if you're not using natural gas you're using coal". It's far pass time when we stop using both.
Why should the oldest mountains on the planet be blown up while the people who live in Appalachia have their lives destroyed and the ecological system is irreparably damaged by mountain top removal?
Why too should our neighbors, ourselves, have their air, soil, and water poisoned by this extremely dangerous process called fracking? Why should the food our local farmers grow be grown in that poisoned soil, watered with poisoned water? Why should the cows, pigs, and chicken that are fed to our children along with the fruit and veggies be soaked in fracking filth?
Why? Because too many want to bow to the greedy sociopathic industrial monster that is the fossil fuel industry. And for what? To fill up offices???
Maybe the biggest issue is that we've crossed into uncharted territory as far as carbon levels in the atmosphere. We're going above 400 ppm this summer. 350 ppm is the danger zone and we may see 450 during spikes this summer.
Is the future of the planet worth filling a few more office buildings?

I believe you, Bram. Wagner's evolution is fine, but this is 2013 and we've already been down this path with Dan Onorato who couldn't see fit to provide domestic partner benefits for his own employees (and now works for a health insurance company) in spite of his professed evolution.

Thank you for publishing this. The Trevor Project is an amazing resource. Persad Center is also doing outreach into rural communities, but I think that PFLAG tends to be the trail blazers and thank God for them!

Evolution is right. 2010: "I believe that marriage is between one man and one woman." http://is.gd/O97JdC He also told me during a phone interview only a few weeks ago that he still opposes marriage equality because it interferes with the Church's prerogatives, but who's going to believe me?

The preceding two comments is a perfect example of why many pick and choose only to listen to Democrats. Transgender is most definitely not "gay". I doubt bi individuals identify as gay either. And the I-know-better attitude on issues of others' self-identification isn't appropriate.
