It is what it is... Where as a few of the images can be interesting and offer a chance to reminisce about the good old days, the majority of the depressing photos that these sites (now commonly labeled as 'RUIN PORN') post only spark negative comments from viewers toward the communities who are so desperately trying to shed their bad reputations. Some will argue that these individuals are preserving the past through these images. However, all they are really doing is casting the wrong impression of our communities. PLain and simple... It's garbage!

Capitalism has brought the US to be the most successful, wealthy and powerful nation in the history of the world. Socialism/Communism/Dictatorships have never been successful. If you want the basics in life, Russia, China, Iran or Greece is the place for you. While the idea of these failed forms of government sounds great on it's surface, the unintended consequenses as usual destroys those idea's in real world conditions. When you have no incentives to succeed, human nature allows for people to be lazy or give up trying because their is no benefit. The US has led the world with the best technology and inventions for 100 years. The can do American spirit is what makes this country stand out. Any other form of government only leads to mediocrity. That is why our current course of easy to get on government programs and out of control debt that will destroy this country and it will continue to get worse on it's present path. Want socialism/communism/dictatorship rule. Please feel free to move to another country. I doubt anyone of these members of this group will actually move and live in the environment they so badly wish for. This group will continue to live in their bizzare little dream world and thankfully will have NO affect on the rest of the population.

been to all three. there is better in fayette county. Farmageddon and Haunted Hills estate are far better and worth the drive. Haunted Hills estate was very unique and performers were into their jobs.

I think Mr. Pena's work, as represented here, is sophomoric at the very best. We have all seen the same lame teen, "I'm so bored and misunderstood " angst melodrama scrawled out and played out (with a higher degree of quality and wit in most cases) across high school notebooks by the artsy kids with torn Chuck Taylors and Misfits patches safety pinned onto their jackets (whether they've heard the band or not) for decades now. Pena’s commitment to being (or appearing to be) completely honest while sharing his banal inner monologue is admirable and is made of the courage to reveal oneself that great popular art demands (i.e. The disenfranchised want to know that someone else out there is as fucked up as them so they don’t feel as bad for being lame... I know I do). In this case, his humor and angst reach the level of a high school bandy trying to impress the fat girl who smells like pee, laugh’s at anything because she’s socially retarded, and twirls a flag because she didn’t make the majorette squad. That being said, I think Mr. Pena’s work is unoriginal, trite, irrelevant, uninspiring, and testament to the immaturity of those who are entertained by it (and not in a Katy Perry kind of way whose art is all of those things yet may be considered ..good) In conclusion, I seriously question the CP and Robert Isenberg's immature taste level for making it a feature. Is Robert 16? Just wondering?

to see the transformation of peoples hopes, drives and urges in a particular cultural grid morphed into the desperate world of thanatos. It's like looking at civilian life brimming with existential uncertainty suddenly becomming dead sure the answer is one: eradicate the questions by accepting omnipotence for the split second it takes to either be killed or kill your next of kin.

"Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story"
For anyone who is interested here is a dose of truth and reality-
In actual fact the woman behind the exhibition Ms Ida Hagen has Narcississtic Personality Disorder and therefore has no compuction about telling whatever lies will get her the praise "fame" or money she desires.
There is no depths to which she will not descend in her desperate bid for validation and to give reason to her sad empty life.
She is the woman who abducted the children from the country where they were born and lived all their lives breaking all contact with the father and grandparents who are the only people who have ever shown them real care and love.
The Judge and expert witnesses including child psychologists in her home country then looked at all the evidence and delivered a damning verdict on the lies and attempted manipulation of the children, police and authorities carried out by Ms Hagen.
Their judgement was that the children should be returned to Scotland.
Following her narcississtic personality type she then appealed the damning 23 page judgement to the next level of court to be further humiliated by three more judges who 100% backed the first judge/courts verdict and ordered that the children be returned to Scotland within 7 days.
In her continuing search for drama Ms Hagen then absconded from this final judgement and sought "sanctuary" in a church on the Swedish border.
After the drama of the Police removing the children from her custody (really thinking of their best interests there in letting that happen Ms Hagen!)
She then decided to stay in Norway and not return with the children, instead sending them back to the care of the ex-husband who apparently "throughout her 10 year marriage continually raped and beat her"
So worried about the safety of the children she then proceeded to not bother even calling the children for the next three months.
The Scottish Courts awarded immediate residence of the children to their father and will now only allow Ms Hagen surpervised contact with the children as she has been deemed "not a fit mother"
As for the "artist" (term used in the loosest possible sense)Reinhardt Sobye, his behaviour has been in the opinion of his peers reprehensible, to take photographs of children both naked and clothed without the permission of the father and to attempt to sell them for as he would put it "cold profit" shows exactly what sort of a damaged and warped view he has of the world and people in general.
He has been sucked in but may one day realise what sort of person he has become involved with in Ida Hagen however for the timebeing it would appear that their damaged personalities seem to suit one another.
Anyone with further interest in this case can view the judgements made by the various courts as they are a matter of public record and they make clear the reason why she has been continually exposed and humiliated as the fraud and lier that she sadly is.

Burying "Floating Echo" under the bridge---contrary to the advertisements for it before the festival---weakens the image and defeats the installation's purpose. Furthermore it runs against the artist's own statement: "Through the statue one can see the nature, landscape and architecture around the water. Its subtle presence embraces and reflects the surroundings, both natural and man-made."
