Re: “ACLU settles remaining G-20 claims

I was one of the 13 people and I was not there for even two minutes before being arrested. The president and these 20 important people had left pittsburgh hours ago because the g 20 had been concluded earlier that day. Get your facts straight.

Re: “Language Lessons: Locals find opportunities teaching English in Korea

Interesting, and papers large and small across the country could regularly do pieces like this because so many recent graduates have gone overseas to teach English, even before the "Great Recession". It's a viable short-term option, especially for people who want to see the world but couldn't afford to study abroad. In recent years, though, the market in Korea has soured for older, experienced teachers who price themselves out of jobs because schools only want to pay young, cheap ones.

Re: “A first-time local author offers a painstakingly researched account of perhaps the region's most notorious crime spree.

This really is such a good book! The author should be made an honorary personal injury lawyer in homewood for his work!

Re: “EDMC layoffs hit Art Institutes nationwide

Everyone can sue EDMC EXCEPT the students that were pissed on by the company?

Anyone else think that's BS?

If suicide climbs due to debt based on EDMC school recruiter lies, they are to blame.

If protests begin to happen more frequent, they deserve it.

Is the American Dream to work hard and be successful, or deceive others and profit?

Re: “Party Favors

There are plenty of other endorsements that can be cobbled together--Stonewall, Labor Council, 14th Ward Club, etc. They carry great weight among their constituencies and can counterbalance the party's endorsement.

Re: “Political Spin: No Ravenstahl puts a new twist on the mayoral primary and the city's future

Sorry, but Mike Lamb is not "new leadership". He's been in the game as long as anybody, started his political career in 1992 in the prothy's office, took it over in 2000, became city controller in 2008, and his dad was a state legislator for 15 years.

Re: “Wayne Fontana circulating mayoral petitions, adding to crowded South Hills field

While on County Council, Fontana clearly broke the rules of the county charter, our Constitution, when he felt he was above the law by not making a resignation from council before running for another office. The scolding was delivered by a Post-Gazette editorial in no uncertain terms.

We don't need selfishness and anti reformers in city hall.

Fontana is one chamber away from being in jail with Bonusgate.

Re: “City council president Harris "not ruling out" mayoral run

I wonder if she will smoke cigs in the Mayors office like she does in her Council office. All against city code.

Re: “City council president Harris "not ruling out" mayoral run

How does one run for school board and council without ever having thought about running? What is that even supposed to mean? Are we to be impressed that she stumbles from one position of leadership to the next without any forethought?

Hasn't had time to evaluate Luke's job performance? What has she been doing for the past six and half years besides lurching from one policy position to the next depending on which direction the political winds are blowing? The entire premise of this article is just silly.

Re: “Mayor releases secret account expenses for security officers

"As to the allegations that time-cards were falsified, Zober continued, "The mayor doesn’t set policy as to time cards within a department.""

Well, that's everything. No, actually I'm kind of concerned we're all looking right at where he's pointing... but that's this piece.

"Zober said the mayor had nothing to do with setting up the account, nor issuing the debit cards. That was done by Harper, although "clearly it wasn't intended, even it was done in a way that the chief maybe shouldn’t have done it, it wasn’t intended with any ill-will, at least with the respect to the two officers.""

Not buying it. A mayor would notice, being aware of city accounts and seeing debit cards being used around him. He would have known what to ask, he would have asked, he would make sure things are done properly. Since all the p's and q's weren't straight in a way that presents an invitation to and suspicions of fraud within what we've learned became an intolerably enterprising police department, that's his fault for letting Harper unfortunately tend to the p's and q's that manner.

Time will tell this story, or it'll never be told.

Re: “City council president Harris "not ruling out" mayoral run

If she runs, Harris and her loved ones would probably be burdened with quite a bit of distraction, campaigning for Mayor in one or two cycles. That's always harsh. But I don't feel like she'd inherit or replicate any of Mayor Luke's nagging problems. Unless she does.
