Re: “County Democratic Chair: Harris must leave party post

Mrs. Harris may not have broken voting rules, but she definitely wore her Wagner regalia - t-shirt and buttons - in full sight as she paraded into the inside of polling places where voters were casting votes, and she said the name of her candidate while inside, thus breaking the rules of electioneering within polling places.

Did anyone check her poll-watching certificate to see whether she was even allowed into the precincts? I know many of them checked mine! Those who did not know me had to ask for whom I was watching, as my campaign items were covered up while inside.

Haha, so she couldn't have voted for Vagner!

Re: “Will Peduto face a "third" party challenger in the fall?

There real question is whether Darlene voted in the primary?

Legally speaking, she wouldn't have been able to vote for Jack, right?

Did Harris vote on Tuesday?

"In 18 states, like Pennsylvania, independents can't vote in the primaries or caucuses."

Re: “Will Peduto face a "third" party challenger in the fall?

Madam Harris was a Dem prior to this, and has indicated that she will re-register as a Dem following this, so are we supposed to consider this merely a "leave of absence" from the party?

Re: “A Tale of Two Wards: Measuring the enthusiasm gap in mayoral race

One thing one generally does not see at the outsides of the 14th Ward precincts is the bullish sort of campaigner familiar in other areas of the City. You know the type - big, burly men, getting in voters' faces and insisting that their candidate is sure to win, shoving slate cards (sometimes even fake slate cards) in their hands, and warding off other campaigners as they open the polling place door.

I do not remember ever having seen one of those campaigners working on behalf of any candidate for whom I have voted; and I do not live in the 14th Ward. I'd like to think, and certainly hope, that the public nowadays goes to the polls knowing for whom they intend to vote, rather than being told by Committeemen or anyone else at the entrance to the polling place.

Re: “A Tale of Two Wards: Measuring the enthusiasm gap in mayoral race

Nice. The 14th always turns out, but a contested council race and a favorite daughter judicial candidate (Eleanor Bush) probably contributed to the bump this year, along with Bill's run.

Re: “A Tale of Two Wards: Measuring the enthusiasm gap in mayoral race

Wait. Rudiak won?! Didn't people see Lamar Advertising's billboards? Rudiak wants to tax billboards, people. BILLBOARDS.

A billboard tax is just the thin edge of the wedge! Next thing you know, there's a hammer and sickle on the City-County Building and your kids are all being trained in madrassas! What's next, soccer at Heinz Field?

Re: “Election Day thoughts

As you mostly acknowledge, there are a lot of shades between smurfishness and monstrousness, and it's probably not even a one-dimensional spectrum. Traditional machine politicos love nothing more than to insist that in order to be consistent, progressives must forever be lying down, rolling over and exposing their abdomens. They usually complain about it with half a smile and a twinkle in their eye, as though they remember fondly what progressive entrails taste like.

Look to Shrek. Some monsters are loving and noble.

Re: “The Composure covers "Closing Time," plays Altar tonight

ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW!?! The 90's were all about paying $20 for 2 good songs. (3 if you like weezer) Why are you listening to non-singles off that album? Did your skip button break on your sony discman? Plus that video for singing in my sleep might as well have come out today... the way he reaches over a pile of CD's to dig out a cassette mix tape... it's like a hipster manifesto in a 4:25 video. GOSH ANDY! @kidurango

Re: “The Composure covers "Closing Time," plays Altar tonight

Yeahhhhh, that song's OK. That "Secret Smile" song straight-up sucks, though, and I think it was the second single from the album, wasn't it? NOT FEELIN' IT, PETE.

Re: “Election Day thoughts

Nice round-up Chris. I had a friend call last night who said he was still on the fence and was concerned about Peduto's perceived difficulties in the black community. Thanks for knocking it down.

Re: “War of words escalating in final days of mayoral campaign

"Mr. Peduto is afraid to see a day in which all Pittsburghers are realizing prosperity.."

What an outrageous statement from Wheatley. Loosing more and more respect for him by the day.

Thanks. She was i.d.'d as Cross Barden and Cross Bolden down in the story. I missed the first reference to her as Maureen Bolden.
