I was treated to lunch today (it's my birthday) at the Twisted Thistle and it was an awesome experience! Their signature side salad was delicious with a homemade viniagrette that's the best I've ever tasted. I had the Pasta Prima, which was filled with julienne vegetables and tossed with a light sauce - very tasty! Then came the dessert tray and it was hard to pick only one. I opted for the chocolate cake and took home a piece of the apple pita, a lucious layered struedel-like treat that had a shortbread crust. This restaurant is a hidden treasure that I will gladly visit often in the future. I wish them much success!

Madam Harris was a Dem prior to this, and has indicated that she will re-register as a Dem following this, so are we supposed to consider this merely a "leave of absence" from the party?

a much more important, and interesting, question this reporter obviously didn't ask is: what is the administrative overhead costs of these not-for-profit, non tax paying, of these crying organizations? I bet it is 40 cents per every dollar. If not higher.
and these clowns want sympathy and using the poor kids and starving seniors card?? Not from this chick. And not from any smart American. Finally the Feds are doing something right. And articles like this with fat-wallet CEO's soliciting pity..........what a joke.

This is one week out of 52. It seems there is plenty of time left to discuss Peduto's primary victory, his run towards the general election, and whatever else we need to discuss. Plus, I would add that CP spends all year making "more mature, worthwhile comment" (and also, some that are not so mature too; hey, it's our gift, so we gotta use it) on the state of the city and its goings on. I, personally, am glad to have had the opportunity to take AJ Richardson's photograph for this issue, because god knows, I've been covering Peduto since he worked for Valerie MacDonald and, although a very nice guy, his tattoos aren't nearly as photogenic as AJ's.

One thing one generally does not see at the outsides of the 14th Ward precincts is the bullish sort of campaigner familiar in other areas of the City. You know the type - big, burly men, getting in voters' faces and insisting that their candidate is sure to win, shoving slate cards (sometimes even fake slate cards) in their hands, and warding off other campaigners as they open the polling place door.
I do not remember ever having seen one of those campaigners working on behalf of any candidate for whom I have voted; and I do not live in the 14th Ward. I'd like to think, and certainly hope, that the public nowadays goes to the polls knowing for whom they intend to vote, rather than being told by Committeemen or anyone else at the entrance to the polling place.

Listen you retard, the candidate that was worthwhile to make the cover was Aj!!! I have a lot of respect for this guy to do what he did. He has more heart and balls than you and I put together you prick! He was on top of his game with the debates, he has a lot of good ideas and he has a heart for the people. So instead of knocking him you slimy piece of dog puke... The whole city should be saying kuddos to you Aj, for doing something most could never have done. Maybe your mother would have thought a "condom" was worthwhile and mature decision, before screwing up universal greatest with your pathetic excuse of a life! Great job CP & CD! You guys and the article/pic gets my vote!!!

Nice. The 14th always turns out, but a contested council race and a favorite daughter judicial candidate (Eleanor Bush) probably contributed to the bump this year, along with Bill's run.

This is rather silly considering the significance of the Peduto victory last night.
Regardless of whether you support Bill, Jack, or even Luke, there's no denying that last night's election was a significant shift toward a more progressive-minded Pittsburgh. Both Rudiak and Gilman's victories attest to this as well.
It's too bad that CP didn't use this week's cover story to make a more mature, worthwhile comment on that shift.

Mrs. Harris may not have broken voting rules, but she definitely wore her Wagner regalia - t-shirt and buttons - in full sight as she paraded into the inside of polling places where voters were casting votes, and she said the name of her candidate while inside, thus breaking the rules of electioneering within polling places.
Did anyone check her poll-watching certificate to see whether she was even allowed into the precincts? I know many of them checked mine! Those who did not know me had to ask for whom I was watching, as my campaign items were covered up while inside.
