THIS PLACE SUCKS. Food is awful, service/bar is awful, horrible ambience. Owner is unfriendly. I suggest trying another place in Shadyside if you want good food and atmosphere. There are so many cool places on Ellsworth rather than going here again.

Re: “Home Economics Building

This place is just behind the police station. Google Maps tells me it's on the opposite side of the road, so I hope knowing it's behind the police station saves someone from driving up and down Brownsville Road like I did!

Re: “Chief's

Ah, now THAT sounds like the Chief's I knew and loved/hated back in the day. On another review site, Chief's is listed as a coffee & tea cafe where hospital staff hang out...I almost cried!
I didn't go to Chief's for the drinks or decor (nor to sample from the ever-present jar of pickled, hard-boiled eggs). I went to sample the people! The most eclectic group of strong personalities I've ever known to be in one room could be found stuffed in and around the booths at Chief's. No matter what it was a person was in to, be it business or art, if they were hanging out at Chief's, you can bet your bippy they were considered "fringe" in at least one aspect of their life.
I loved it, I feared it, and I'm d*mn glad I experienced it.

Re: “Dasonii Korean Bistro

I was turned onto this place by my Son. He and some college buddies discovered it soon after it opened. I was skeptical at first as it is located in a Robinson strip mall. I soon got over that after seeing the menu and tasting the food.

I had the Bibimbap and some real soju, a Korean distilled spirit which is hard to find around here. The starter dishes were delicious with the best Kimchi I've had in a long time. I highly recommend.

Re: “Happy Day Lounge

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Abrasive bartender will ensure I never go back to this place ever again.

Re: “B.C.Kenley's

The Scissormen really rocked this "Jook Joint" Fri night.
Good ol "Deep Blues" with sometimes psycadelic riffs by lead guitarist, song writer and blues purist Ted Drozdowski with Drummer Matt Snow. NO COVER CHARGE and relaxed atmosphere made the eve at "B. C's" enjoyable. Kenley's often showcase some some of the best local and touring acts.
Last Nov Gary Prisby, BSWPA winner "Best Acoustic Solo Performer" played to a very appreciative crowd. Owner "BILL KENLY" tries to keep it real at "His Joint". This review courtesy of GREENSBURG BUZZ @greensburgbuzz.com

Re: “Joeys the Edge

Thoroughy enjoyed an evening at Joey's the Edge in Export.
Good crowd of all ages and GREAT live band featuring Pgh's
own "Jazz Great" Kenny Blake. Tue. night "jam session" features Kenny and a various group of other musicians from around the area. They will BLOW YOU AWAY !!! Great spot with ample parking and clean restrooms. The only negative I could add is I wish the place was larger. Well worth the trip.

Have been to Dinos a number of time and enjoyed everything until last night. I ordered a half rack platter (ribs, cole slaw and choice of potato). To my very great surprise, when the bill arrived, I found I had been charged for the butter and sour cream for my potato. Are you kidding????? When you order a baked potato at Dino's, remember to bring your own butter, because in their world , butter is an extra.

Re: “Douglas Education Center

I'm totally in the FX Program at DEC. I have to say that the instructors are some of the best in the business. It's a challenging business to get into, but if you work hard, absorb all the info they teach you, and work with Career Services - you're dreams will come true. Mine sure have!

Re: “Douglas Education Center

DEC is the best school there is. I love it here! The instructors and administration is so helpful! I wouldn't want to go to any other school!

Re: “Little E's

Excellent Venue. Not a bad seat in the house. The food is great and the music is always top notch. You will not be disapointed.

Re: “Brillobox

Sorry to say that I had a bad experience. Stopped for a quick drink with friends. The bar was 1/2 full, but I had trouble getting a drink. After 4 people were served that arrived behind me, I tried to get the bartenders attention by asking if "I could get a beer--I've been standing here for 5 minutes." That was the extent of it. The bartender immediately responded "oh no, we don't put up with the kind of attitude in here", put his hand up and walked away from me. He then proceeded to tell the individual waiting tables not to serve me either. Needless to say, I wasn't the one with the attitude. Hope others have a better experience that I did--I won't be trying it again.

Re: “Laughlin Memorial Library

The lineup of 4 poets and 2 short story readers were outstanding. The exciting varied literary gems were delightful. And the brunch was delicious. And there was a great feeling around the event. The Laughlin Memorial Library room has a kitchen and air conditioning. It's just a wonderful combination Taproot Writers and one of the most beautiful libraries. I loved, loved, loved it.

Re: “Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse

went once never again. inattentive server, mediocre food. seriously this is the crap i expect at an outback. "fresh baked" dessert arrived cold in the middle - busted. go to capital grille or ruths chris instead - will actually be worth the price.

Re: “Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse

Valentine's Day Meal Massacre! First and last time at Hyde Park, Pgh. for any type of food service. Cons:Staff- Servers took NO pride in giving good service, provided only minimal information on menu choices, were not at all attentive to simple needs ie: beverage refills, satisfaction of food, preparation of food, our server actually got thru the entire coffee service without even looking at me or my husband (a heater or refill...FORGET ABOUT IT). Food - My husband ordered ribeye which had quarter size areas of fat, flavorless and luke warm, I had 7oz filet and crab cakes also flavorless and not even close to acceptable temp, flourless choc cake ummmm...not at all worth calories!!! Manager on Duty: told the table beside us you can't get near the place during a Steeler game, the bar was 5 deep (ok..that's 8 days a year if you don't count pre-season), they gave a $20 GC nice gesture on Valentine's Day and he made a big deal about being able to use it on alcohol too (just don't come on Steeler Game Day). Pros: It has a nice open but at the same time intimate atmosphere, drinks were pricey but good and of course it's in the great city of Pittsburgh! ps: Valet service-friendly, fast and polite!

Re: “Starlite Lounge

We observed what appeared to us to be multiple violations of basic food safety/cleanliness procedures, and the place just did not seem very clean in general. The food and the service were slow, but otherwise acceptable. The "non-smoking section" is just barely so. The cigarette smoke smell from the bar in the next room was overpowering.
